Your average council estate flat roof pub / alcoholics venue. I used to frequent a pub called the Shield and Sword which had characters just like that. Great fun lol.

Yeah, pretty much. Most UK pubs were like this in small towns up until 2012ish? You can still find a lot of these but many of them get bought out by large chains, some chains try to up-market the place and others try to keep the "small town" feel to it.
I worked in about 3 pubs in a small town and I would frequently have to go into the toilets and threaten to call the police on people doing ******* etc. I remember on my second shift in one pub when I was about 19 (?) I was alone manning the bar when three ex-convicts decided to celebrate one of them getting out of prison by drinking at that pub for 5+ hours straight. I was scared ****less lmao.
Oh yeh if you ever want to go to pubs like these, an easy place to find them is Croydon, about 18-25mins on the train from london victoria.
If you wanna go to a safer area with pubs like this, it will take you longer but you can get the train from London victoria into a small town called "Lewes", one of them small british towns with old book shops and pubs on every other corner.

Most students and younger people prefer sports bars with pool tables or some retro games.
I remember I wandered to some random old people pub once and there was literally one guy in a wheelchair dancing with 2 fat old ladies, still stuck in my mind even though I was wasted myself lol.
The beer is cheaper in some of those places compared to normal bars though.
The old people pubs are usually like that srs.
