Why does the UK drive on the left side of the road??

Could be way off so take this for what it's worth, but I vaguely recall it dating back to medieval times and which side you drew your sword from or something like that.

I might also be mixing that up with the history of the military salute. At some point in your life you learn so much trivial crap that it all mixes together and becomes worthless.

I've heard it is to do with the likelihood of being attacked from on or off the road, sword hand on the inside or outside.

Well no, that changes the context of using the date, it’s less specific if you’re referring to something in that way, especially if you’re dropping the ‘DD’.

Day - Month - Year is chronological. Might as well just go YY/DD/MM for ultimate chits and giggles.
