Why does overtraining impact mood so much?
Lately I've been doing HIIT class liike 4-5 times per week and biking 20+ miles 5-6 times per week. My body is absolutely wrecked right now, and I finally ate a lot of dinner tonight so hopefully I feel better tomorrow.
However, I'm feeling downright depressed right now as well. It's not work-related, it has to be from finally hitting the brink of overtraining and also probably a little bit of tiredness from being out in the sun today as well. Also it's possible that I'm on the outs with my girl so that could also be playing into it.
Anyways, my mind feels extremely tired and I just have zero ability to feel any joy right now. I was thinking of going to bed at like 9AM tonight to try to sleep off this horrible feeling, but I honestly don't want to wake up at like 5AM tomorrow.
Is this just extreme exhaustion? Or does overtraining mess with seratonin? I'd like to know, as I haven't felt this bad in quite some time.

Overtraining is worse than under training.
Working out like you are almost sounds like you got shiit going on in your life and training like that to try and forget the troubles.
I’d take some time off and reevaluate your goals because you are not doing yourself any good.
I knew some people that beat the shiit out of themselves like this and they were unstable as fook.

I am more unstable than I was 6 months ago, but still not in overall poor mental health.

One thing I will say, is that overtraining does seem to get me into shape quickly. As chitty as it feels doing so. My workouts are still great, and when I'm actually exercising I have better stamina and endurance than I have had in a long time.

it makes sense to me. idk if i could explain
it's similar to being tired and wanting to sleep
i think the pre frontal cortex starts to break down. and then your body is physically tired so can't pull the energy you need

I'm the same lately, working out excessively as an anti depressant. Maybe throw some easier active recovery in there like yoga, hikes, light swimming?

What are you training for? Stamina and endurance.
