What are the realistic inventions you can predict by 2040?

Flying cars and driverless cars are definitely on my list and likely real and affordable to the majority by 2040.

Robot doctors and computerized police/prison is a possibility as well.

Flying cars are not happening. It would take a good 15 years just to get one developed and approved then another 10-15 to get any traction in the market place and scale up production... that would mean someone should probably be working on it now .... or 10 years ago preferably.

I think it would be cool to have something come out of the recent investments in brain machine interfaces. Not sure how that will develop out but there could be something really cool come out of that and to market by 2040... and I think this could get to scaled production much quicker than a flying car would.

Well John Goodenough just overhauled our battery technology.

I think by 2040 we'll see such leaps with solar power and batteries that we might see countries shutting down power plants. Unless everyone has been frauding about this technology?

The biggest and most controversial will be prenatal gene manipulation. I would guess China and Russia are already hard at work perfecting the technology.

Imagine millions of babies born every year that could be actual miscers. 180 IQ's, giant penors, 6'4" 235 lbs SHREDDED natty, jawlines that can cut diamonds, etc. Meanwhile in the west only brown peasants will be breeding.

Yep, that's next. It's going to create a master race like we've never seen before. Something tells me there will also be side effects/defects and the problems with those we might not be able to manage.

Starts with people with genetic diseases being able to have kids without passing those genes on because it's been eliminated.

While we are in there, I don't want my son to grow up to be a balding manlet.

Hell, why not, don't want no dumb derp kid, bump that IQ up a few notches doc.
