Ask an erotic author who pays his bills writing porn anything.

Thought this might be an interesting AMA for people here. About two years ago I decided I needed a side gig and I'd always been a writer back in the day. Getting into erotica is easier than most people think, but making decent money at it isn't.

I've published over 50 short novellas (think as short as 40 pages and as long as 100+) across various sites. Had three #1 sellers in my categories and wrote over a million words last year. Originally I got into it hoping to make coffee money, and now it pays my rent. About a year ago I got into writing commissions (so requested stuff) where people send me their fantasies and I write the story for them. Sometimes VERY twisted and weird stuff. Recently I've also gotten into editing.

Hoping that by the time I'm 50 (I'm 46 now) I can quit my day job and work at this full time. Working on my first full novel (crime thriller) and also writing a children's book with my seven year old daughter I'm hoping to publish for her birthday this year.

Ask away!

Mirin bro.

- What are some of the weirdest requests you've gotten?

- Do you refuse requests that are too fkd up or do you just up the price?

- How much are people willing to pay for custom stories and how long are the stories? Do they get refunds if they don't like what you've written or ask you to make amendments?

- Have you considered setting up your own platform e.g. On Patreon where you can potentially have a guaranteed source of income over an extended period?

- What's your writing routine - hours / words per day?

It's increased steadily. My first goal was $100 a month. Then my car payment of $450 a month. My goal for end of this year is to be making 2k a month and it's part time.

Here's a fisting tidbit I wrote just this morning:
"Stretching one more time Ellie gasped and looked down and then she could clearly see that Greta had her entire hand inside her *****. It was impossible to imagine it fitting, but there it was. And the sensation of stretch was making her whole body almost convulse with pleasure. She wasn’t even moving it, just slowly penetrating inch by delicious inch."

Lots of them.

Worst request ever (and the only one I've ever reported) was a guy who wanted me to write a story about killing a woman and having sex with her corpse. But not just sex traditionally, he wanted me to write about him having sex with the gaping hole he'd carved into her. And the woman just happened to be his wife's best friend. He sent me pictures and everything. It was super disturbing that he was having such sick fantasies about a woman he actually knew.

I refuse requests about kids, animals and anything like the above. The amount of guys who try to justify writing about fourteen year olds because it's legal in their country is amazing.

I charge about 2 cents a word - so a 10k word story makes me $200. That takes me about 7-10 hours to write, so about $25 an hour. And I always include a revision.

Thinking about Patreon - mostly for my novel because it's a slog to write and chapter by chapter might be easier.

I shoot for at least 3k words a day and usually get closer to five. I write in the morning mostly right after I get up because it's when I'm most productive. My day job usually kicks in around 10 so I spend a couple of hours banging out words. Editing I'll do in front of the TV at night. Probably spend about 2-3 hours a day total.

Don't think I've ever done a no fap streak beyond a few days and getting sex isn't an issue for me.

You must love to write. You ALWAYS had a passion for creative writing (in school, for instance) or is it more of "lukewarm" hobby?

I was always good at creative writing (mainly short stories, myself) but I don't have the passion to write. It sucks when you're born with a talent you don't have interest in!!

Do you do personal requests that only that person receives on commission? So could you copy paste stories but changing minor details saving tons of writing time and making money for basically the same story repeatedly?

I find this interesting tbh. I've been doing art on the side for years, and I've had a few people tell me I could make some coin if I started drawing custom hentai commissions. This seems like a similar transition

When you are writing do you have a template of sorts that you follow? Do you create a general story board for each story? Are the novels usually just 40 pages of nasty perverted sex or are there any elements of an actual story?

Yeah, I've always liked it. I use to write sexy stories for my girlfriends (which they loved) in university and published them on Literotica. One is still I think in the top 100 ratings of all time. So it's not difficult for me at all once the juices start flowing (Freudian slip naturally).

Commissions are definitely more men. Because they often have kinks that they can't get regularly in normal erotica. But plenty of women as well who just want a fantasy on a page.

Sometimes I'll get turned on a bit if I'm visualizing something I really enjoy but it's pretty rare now.

Some people request that it's their copyright and I'll honor that but I have done this before TBH. But I change enough that if I was caught I could technically claim it was similar but not exactly the same.

For my own stuff I have a detailed outline normally, if it is a commission the customer provides one - typically all that means is characters, setting, kinks included and any other details.

I have to say, when women find out I do this it's huge for unique skills. And yes, texting or sending them stuff I've written has gotten me laid more than once.

I do write my stuff under a pen name - a female one. Not hard to get started at all, in fact I was susprised. To publish on Amazon is super easy. The trick is making it good and writing stuff that will sell, which requires a lot more than just writing explicit sex.

Are you exclusive with Amazon/in Select, or did you go wide?

What do you do for covers? Create your own? Use Zon's cover creator? Get someone else to make them?

Do you have jealous authors 1-starring your books hoping to kill their competition?

How long does it usually take for sales reported on the dashboard graph to show up in the Month-to-date tab? How long does it take for the rank to update on the sales page from the time the sales show up on your dashboard?

Have you experienced Zon's fukery yet? Rank manipulation? Not awarding the orange "Best Seller" banner when it's due? Removal from categories you're doing well in? Books randomly banned under the nebulous "porn" excuse?
I'm #12 in Y2J's "club"...and I'm scared.

This week on The Buff and the Beautiful: Colleen comes up with a new scheme to win over Carlos. But first she has to gain the trust of her captor.
