Work from home will be a permanent thing at my company now.

I just got the word that in May, employees at my company will be categorized into "work from home", "hybrid", or "work from office". At worst, I'll be in the hybrid group because there's no reason for me to be in the "work from office" group.

TBH, this should have been implemented years ago. It's just sad that it took a global pandemic to make it happen. Fookin' boomers...

inb4 "work from home" actually means "you're fired"...

I never go into the office nor is there a reason for me to go into the office - my time/work is better spent on a job site but that would require the company to shell out more money for hotel/travel/food on my behalf.

It seems they don't want to do it.

Working from home is inefficient and boring af. Eventually people get distracted and productivity goes down. Sitting down in an office for 8 hours focused will never happend working from home.

TBH, I'm at least as productive at home as I am at the office. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Today would be an example of "less" because I literally didn't do anything work related today. But as long as the work gets done, who cares?

Make sure to sign up to the work from office group or hybrid

The "work from home" will soon get fired, srs, this is the plan: map out non essential american workers and transfer the jobs to overseas once it is clear that they dont need you there physically.

Theres really no upside to hiring an American making 80k for an entry level office role vs hiring Abdul from Pakistan who will work 14 hr days for 20k a year. 30k a year for an Abdul who speaks perfect english

That'd be a real concern for companies that do non-government or DoD work for sure. I feel there ought to be laws against U.S. companies preferring to hire non-Americans or something. It's doesn't seem right that they get to reap all of the benefits from being headquartered in the U.S. yet at the same time, screw over Americans. If they want to hire Abduls, then they need to move to where the Abduls live.

That being said, I'm probably pretty safe for now since my department only deals with government contracts that require a clearance.

I wonder if "work from home" will eventually turn into "outsourced".

1-2 days work from home and the rest in the office is where it is at IMO.

Yeah some companies will probably be forced to have american workers, but the defense industry will shrink in the upcoming years, what i said is true for the rest of the companies, its capitalism

Theres no point in hiring Lebron from ASU who graduated with a 2.9 GPA when Abdul can do his work better for a quarter of the money
