Anyone else enjoy yardmaxxxing?

I feel like I have hit peak middle class dadhood. I've actually become Hank Hill.

My yard used to be poverty. Only fertilized it once a year with whatever was on sale. I'd go too long between mowings and then hack a bunch of grass up (you should never cut more than 1/3 of the blade). Brb weeds. Brb bare spots.

This past year I got sick of it and started watching lawncare youtube channels (there are phucking nerds for everything). I had no idea bout aeration, dethatching, overseeding, ph balance, etc. Half the back yard was dead.

I sent in some soil in a test kit and it was all fukked up. Nitrogen was basically nonexistent. Too much phosphorus (clay soils). I started a new lawn from seed and killed off most of what was there. Started applying the correct seasonal fertilizers and overseeding/aerating in the fall. Pre-emergent and dethatch early spring.

This chit is so god damn satisfying. I look forward to applying fertilizers and mowing (ded fkn srs). Starting to learn how to lay down stripes like this

Brb Tenacity for weed control. Brb Milorganite fertilizer. Brb sea kelp for organic nutrients.

HNNNNNG

I went with clover this year. Got tired of trying to make grass grow and fight the ridiculous weeds. It's working so far, things are getting green as hell.

I used to work in lawn care and loved it. That job satisfaction on getting a yard perfectly striped and edged around the landscaping and driveway was hnngg. Definitely gonna invest in a good ztr when I get a house

I used to like it, but I'm over it.

Just finished my first mow of spring 1/2 hour ago and I'm thinking about a lawn service this year.

Tenacity and milorganite..this guy knows his yard care
Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

Canada, so northern climate. It was my own fault for letting the weeds get out of control two years ago. And I have two dogs too so the backyard goes to crap.

I have a ton of trees in my yard. Don't get enough direct sunlight for a good lawn. Nice thing is I never really have to mow more than 15 times a year.

My yard is a solid 9/10, mogs my neighbor's 4/10 yard. I always mow a little onto his property, and when I put down weed killer/fertilizer always go like 10' onto his property too, I just can't stand looking at it.

I go about halfway. I buy seed and fertilizer, whatever is on clearance in late fall and use it. I spray for weeds once a year. Used Scott's weed and feed couple of weeks ago, bought half a pallet for about 10 bucks a 40lb bag last Sept. My yard is a 6/10. I just don't like to put much $$$ or time into it.

I gave in and pay a lawn service to fertilize/weed kill and I just mow. Well worth it as I had no interest in learning what to do

Sounds like a huge time sink for little reward, but it’s not like I’m doing anything better with my time anyway so, Mirin.

Just apply a pre-emergent (crab grass preventer) in the spring and spot treat weeds. Follow the Scotts Turf Builder schedule and do that early + late spring, then Scotts Summerguard in summer and Winterguard in winter.

You can do more but just doing that will mogg your neighbors

Yardmaxing only works when your neighbors yardmaxx with you.

Otherwise you'd look like a try hard.
