1 CAD is now worth 0.81 USD (u mad?)

This is a gain of 0.11 from a year ago.

American brahs who love ripping on our monopoly money... how are you coping?

With the US money printer gasping for air how long will it take before the USD gets mogged?

People who bring up the spot exchange rates don’t even know how this all works, we don’t generally buy things here in USD. Purchasing Power Parity is what matters and it remains quite stable compared to spot currency exchange rates. And governments post official PPP figures.

CAD was trading higher than USD in 2007 and 2011-2012, that doesn’t suddenly make us any richer. We don’t want the CAD trading high against the USD because it negatively impacts the competitiveness of our exports and our government (like many others around the world) works to keep exchange rates at certain levels to benefit our own economy. China takes it to the next level.

AFAIK almost all countries lose against USA in terms of nominal but also PPP. It's because USA has a huge industrial and agricultural base.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...PP)_per_capita

Even this list is pretty suspect I think. Like I seriously doubt Norwegians in PPP are richer than Americans in real life.

But I can agree with Singapore. Singapore has some sort of public housing system where you can buy a 4 bedroom apartment for $300K. And they have super cheap street food.
