i know enough but am no expert on this chit.

if i am logged into my works wifi on my cellphone, then start my VPN, won't they essentially know its the same person since some device in the office all of the sudden has traffic from some other place in the country? same thing with using brave tor browser on my pc

if i am using the wifi, turn vpn, visit a questionable site, then turn it off, will it be noticeable? IT blocks ammo, alcohol, all kinds of stuff. im not talking about anything crazy here.

People overestimate what a vpn does to protect them...If you're already tunneled through your work's network, they can see everything you're doing...

They’ll see that your device is using their network to access a vpn server but that’s probably about it. Still, depending on who notices it(if they notice it) it probably looks suspicious. You could just say you’re doing it for security reasons, but they’ll probably realize you’re doing it to look at gay porn.

The VPN is for the remote site to see you as coming from a different network, thus allowing the content while on an otherwise restricted network.

It's doing zero for hiding you from your work's network though.

No, Basically, you are opening a tunnel within a tunnel and they can't see your traffic.
Secondly, for OP, I can't speak for other VPNs but for NordVPN, they see other traffic, but it won't be out of country. They'll see their US data center server IP address.

But if they "won't know where he went after", then how can they not see his request between OP and VPN? For them to not know what he's doing, the request+pron would have to be encrypted between OP and VPN

I'm sure there are vpns where it only works OP -> router -> VPN, but some must also encrypt from the source (i.e expressvpn, nordvpn) that install on your computer

You must be pretty crappy at your job. If you could read, you would have seen that I am ON MY PHONE. They have no idea who's phone it is, I am just on the wifi because there's poor cell service in the building.

It will seem suspect for sure. They can't prove that you went to onlygayfans but they will know if you're tunneling into a VPN. A simple IP lookup would show who is the owner.

I advocate for using VPNs (a paid trusted one, dns leak protection all that good stuff) when connecting to public wifi/hotel to decrease chances of man in the middle attacks. Stick with HTTPS and in this scenario, the VPN provider is the man in the middle btw

The network is secure. That is a non issue. If I want to buy ammo for example, (or gay porn), I can't even get to the site on my phone because it blocks the site. You answered my question though, whether they see the content, they will know I'm using a vpn. Thanks

Will they be able to see which website you're visiting, what you're viewing, watching, etc: No*


Most VPNs used by regular people are used with the approach of being on an insecure network, and they want to ensure they aren't exposed to various attacks, or leaking information. The common example is you're in a hotel, or coffee shop, you want to use their internet, but can't trust that someone hasn't messed around with the current network you're on.
You want to check your ******** account, so you go to ********.com, but can't be sure the site you're visiting isn't actually a local one on the network, and the DNS is poisoned to take anyone visiting ********.com to some guy's fake ******** page that's collecting all sign in details.

Or you actually go to ********.com but someone sitting on the network is decrypting all the traffic going to ********.com and seeing what you're doing, getting info, etc. etc. etc.

A proper VPN that truly masks everything would essentially take all your network traffic, garble it up so no one can make sense of it (encryption), and send it to an intermediary (the VPN endpoint). From there, it's de-garbled, and sent to your intended website (boysboysboys.com), from there, your intended website sends data (pics) back to your VPN, and being the consummate professional, your VPN doesn't judge, but garbles (encrypts) the data (your dirty pics) and sends it to your device. The VPN client on your device then de-garbles (decrypts) the data (your naughty pics), and you're able to view it.

Question now becomes how much do you trust the VPN (they essentially can become that bad guy in the middle of your connection, and it just comes down to trust, and their bottom dollar).

*Caveat here is that it depends on your VPN, and what it may or may not be leaking.

What you need to do bro is hack one of your co-workers phone. Log to the net and start watching as much porn as possible.

They’ll know you connected to a new IP (and might even know that IP belongs to a VPN), but that’s about it. You don’t route directly to the VPN. You’re still riding over the wifi using your original internal IP.

Depending on the VPN protocol used, your company could possibly decrypt and see your traffic anyway.
