What changed when you stopped drinking? Or at least cut back?

Stopped drinking a year ago. Was getting after it pretty hard daily. I knew it was becoming an issue when around 2:00 every afternoon I couldn’t wait to get to the pub by my place for some beers after work. Total mindfuk.

Since then my health has completely turned around, don’t wake up wondering what random sloot or ex I drunk texted the night before, or with a brutal hangover.

I read Allen Carr’s The Easy Way to Stop Drinking and it was an easy, quick and to-the-point read on why booze was fuking with me. It worked for me.

For you miscers that gave it up or cut back significantly how has changing that aspect changed your life?

Don't waste time and money on useless crap. Spend more time hitting goals and improving myself. Do interesting things instead of getting drunk in a bar, going home, passing out.

Honestly, it took about 5 years to really see improvements after getting sober.

Boredom mostly. Better sleep and better workouts too I suppose. It's only been like a week for me though.

Went 45 days recently. Got leaner. Saved money. Wanted to eat more. 420 helped serve as an alternative vice.

Recently drank again, don't plan to do so again for another week minimum srs.

Not drinking has ruined my health . I get hypoglycaemic all the time , and the longer I go without alcohol, the worse it gets.
I used to drink a dozen beer every weekend to every second weekend , and never felt weak and hungry all the time .
Could usually skip breakfast and have a late lunch without issue . But now I have terrible problems . When I get to six months without alcohol, it gets about as bad as I can deal with , so I’ll usually go on a runaway .
Had tests and doc says blood sugars are normal . No idea why I get this issue when I quit drinking.
I don’t get the typical symptoms like shaking from low blood sugar , but instead my arms start to go numb , and I get this weird weak feeling in my body .
I can control it if I catch it quickly enough and eat , but heaven forbid if I don’t get food immediately .
Sucks really, as I like being hungry at times , and don’t like over eating.

When I had a colonoscopy, you have to go without food for a day and a half ideally . You can drink clear fluids to keep you going , but gateraid and apple juice will not give me enough energy to go to work , so I have to take the day off and lay on the couch to conserve energy .
Boggles my mind ,as i know people who go to work and can go without food for the entire day .
I could never do that now if I wanted to
