the humid heat of vietnam

the supreme heat of the middle east (south west asia)

Not that I have any rhyme or reason to deciding on this but maybe the humid heat. I've been places in and out of the country where it's been DEATHLY hot and CHOKINGLY humid. Both suck but imagining trying to fight/survive on a battlefield when the air is so thick you can barely breathe sounds terrible.

I’ll say the cold. Weapons freezing, not enough warm clothes, cold rations, frostbite.

Cold weather played a part in several high profile defeats. Stalingrad and Napoleon’s retreat from Moscow.

As far as physical comfort, I would have to say humid.

However, I feel that extreme cold is much less survivable.

Being too cold to move one's fingers to the trigger would be potentially deadly.
But the heat would make extreme physical activity deadly in a very short time.
Not so sure about the humid heat effects other than possible difficulty breathing, although that seems to happen in any climate.

This. Nothing is more miserable than being cold and you'll lose all will to fight.

rea you a book on the battle of Stalingrad.

hitler expected barborosa to be over by the end of fall. the german army all had summer gear, they literally were air droping civilian clothing donations. you actually had soldiers wearing womens fur coats. Soldiers were found frozen standing up with their rifle in hand.

you can find some good stalingrad audiobooks on youtube.

They all suck but the cold is probably the worst for me. I’ve never personally been so hot (from the weather) that it was physically painful. Can’t say the same for the cold.
