I've heard 100+ an hour in California in the unions. I was making 52 an hour running just a twin engine scraper. Cranes are scary when you get in them though when it comes to moving big ****. It takes certifications and a lot of training. You have to rely a lot on other people's eyes as well, and when something goes horribly wrong you might end up behind bars.

I get that they seem scary, but are they really dangerous? I’ve seen a few YT videos of them sending it too hard and yeeting themselves into annihilation, but is it a common thing?

Met a crane operator at the gym a few years back. Said he cleared 100k without any OT.

those gigantic ones that are brought in for building huge skyscrapers are definitely making way more than 35/hr.

Depends on the location, but $35 would be very low end

In any major US city these guys are making $150k+ overtime

Used to work in the trades building high rises and I’ve seen their pay on cost reports

Those jobs are probably nepotism / cronyism of peace. Notice how it's always obese tradies working them.

Can't imagine needing to know much Math or having much skillset to operate one of those things. If we have guys mastering fighter jet simulators they can probably master a crane in the fraction of a time.

Depends on experience, types of cranes you can run, as well as certification.

The pay can literally be from 25 p/hour all the way up to 100 p/hour.

Most good crane operators can run mobile swing cab cranes, lattice boom crawlers and tower cranes.

The riggers alone make $30 plus
LTC crew, Superbike crew, BMW crew, M Performance crew, Mountain bike crew, Firearms crew

Things can go south quick, that's why the operators and guys on the ground make so much money. It is scary. I'm an operator myself, but stay away from big cranes because it's easy to mess up. You can end up in jail or prison too if you mess up.

To the other guy, yeah you do need to know math when you get into bigger cranes.

A cement pouring truck with a boom makes like +35... real crane operators that accidentally kill people from time to time make much more.
