Just FUKKING LOL @ ANYONE that doesn't focus without distraction

In an age of micro attention spans it is deep thinking brahs that will rise above all. Imagine not being be able to go without the dopamine hit from social media or whatever the fuk else people waste their precious time on.

“Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem. We all have twenty-four hour days.”
― Zig Ziglar

Was doing 30 min focus sessions before but have upgraded to 1 hour and it's FUKKING UNBELIEVABLE how much deeper you can think about a topic and produce much higher quality work when you're not breaking your concentration for anything.

Current routine is wake up, chit, and get to work srs. Don't even drink anything otherwise you'll need to piss srs. Do nothing that will break your concentration. Gets easier with time.

Brb working five hours with basically no breaks and finishing the day's key work by 1-2pm.

Just FUKKING LOL @ NoFocuscels crew.

Problem with promodoro is that it sucks.
Study/work for 1-2 hour, take a break and repeat. You'll get tired like this but promodoro is for lazy men. Promodoro is based on breaking studying into small chunks because you're lazy/don't want to get overwhelmed.

I think pomodoro would be a good way to get introduced into longer focus sessions but it should be viewed as a stepping stone and not the end game. If while working you start watching the clock and getting to eager to finish then you'll waste that valuable time for deep working. The best time the session ends is when you don't even realise it and are completely immersed in the work. Also, 30 mins is nothing compared to longer. When you focus for a while without distraction that's when the magic happens.

I agree. I would say when you're starting out it's hard to work for long periods but the more you train your brain for longer sessions the easier it gets. My first term in college I used promodoro and got horrible grades, it wasn't untill I aimed for 3-5 hours of studying that my grades changed. Now I'm slowly switching my focus from quantity to quality, so it doesn't matter how long I've studied but what I've learned.

Das fukin it 100%. Quality over everything. Goes without saying that a good diet, sleep and exercise are essential for supporting this too.

Pomodoro never made sense to me. I usually do 5 hours of my important work, with a five minute break at the 2 and 4 hour mark. I often don’t want to take the first break but it’s good for getting my mind unstuck on trivial details, etc.

the problem is more whether something is worth focusing on or not, the focus part itself isn't that hard

Lol right. I hate the idea of having a break because it just makes you dread getting back to work.

You just gotta build up to it brah. Start with even ten minute sessions. Try an app called Forest or any other of the apps like that. They are an easy way to give you the timeslot for working.

During times when I'm reading a lot of books, I def feel an improvement in my concentration power. I've been slacking lately and focusing is more difficult.

Thanks for this bro. Appreciate these kind of tools as a starting point. The end goal should be habituating yourself enough that you don't need them imo. Zen level un-distractable focus lol.
