Need help deciding what career to pursue
I made a thread a bit ago asking for help choosing a career, and I think I've managed to narrow it down. For perspective, I'm a 26 year old loser who has wasted his life being lazy and unmotivated, and I've worked nothing but minimum wage, retail positions.
I want to be financially independent as quickly as possible, and work on my art and creative writing on the side. Here's what I'm considering going after:
• Claims Adjuster
• Software Developer
• Technical Writing
• Web Developer
• Some sort of B2B sales
Looking for suggestions or insight. Appreciate it, misc

Obviously software developer will make the most money.
If your true goal is to be financially independent join the military and retire after 20 years. There are plenty of good jobs available if you are smart and don't believe the recruiter's lies.
Or join the guard/reserves, get a Top Secret clearance, and make 6 figures as a contractor.

Senior IT guy here. Three of the jobs you have listed are intertwined - Software Developer, Web Developer, Technical Writer. Web developer and software developer are pretty much the same, they just use different tools and languages, same deal. Technical writing for IT, medical, engineering, what?
Unless you have a strong skill set for coding I would stay away from it. You have to have an aptitude for it and really LIKE doing it. Because if you are not top tier in skills and schooling you are going to be competing with every H1B thats here in the US. You cant be just average today because thats what all these H1Bs are. Every job you appy to you will be competing with them for work. If you are a young American do you really want to spend the rest of your life competing with these people?
Are you in school?
If I had to do it again I would have become an electrician or plumber. An electrician I know that does data centers makes more than a top end surgeon. I regularly hear that plumbers where I live make more than doctors and executives.
If you become an electrican or plumber you will be your own man and wont be subject to the whims of some company. You will have freedom.

Lol, I've been an auto claims adjuster for 2 yrs. Non standard insurance...
Ask anything.
May have to quit if they make us go back to the office srs.
It could be the most stressful job of your life if you work for the wrong employer and don't have "finesse" skills.
With my "finesse" skills I only work 3 hours a day out of 8.
The work volume gets crazy, the more you do the more they give you..
Learning how to "finesse" management in any career is the key to being a happy wageslave.
Either that or become management yourself lmao.
Working and miscing right now lmao. About to train legs in an hour.
Then get some actual work done (3 hrs) and watch some anime.. All on company time lmao.

We sound like the same person only I was fortunate to get out of retail. Been a low wage office drone for years. Never went to college. I’ve been thinking about getting some IT veers but I would rather gamble my savings on altcoins than work a 9-5 for the rest of my life srs.
