MISC Handy Men, question for you:

I have a shed in the back where my washer and dryer go. Its old as **** and I need to fix up some leaking in the roof.

1) Im assuming the best way to fix this is by using the black tar(?) and roofing papaper(?) and just shingle a nice new layer on top of the damn thing. I only need it to resist rain and last a few years.
1a. What is the "black tar" stuff I'm looking for commercially called? Same as "roofing paper", what am I looking for when I shop at home depot? If you can post links to what I need would be great.

2) Do you think my plan is the best/easiest water proofing course of action?

3) Any tips, tricks, things I should know other than watch a Youtube video on how to do it?

Tar paper comes in 15w or 30w I think. I used 30 on my shed. Staple gun that sucker down, make sure the white lines face the sky, start shingles from the bottom of roof and work your way up using a nail gun until you get about 4 inches from peak. Do both sides and then just use left over shingles to make a cap and then just cover where the peak is with cap

Just youtube it bro. Shingles are easy as fuk.
But yeah
Its roofing tar, but you shouldn't need any if your going to tear off the old shingles and replace them.
Idk what its called in florida but in the mid west the paper is called “tar paper”.

Length x width of one side of the roof, double that to get your square footage. Take the number to home depot or wherever and tell them what you need.

Step 1: rip off all shingles and paper
Step 2: Make sure roof sheathing is in good shape and all nails are pulled
Step 3: Lay new paper down, starting from bottom so it overlaps eachother
Step 4: Run a starter piece of roofing along the bottom
Step 5: Start your first row at bottom and continue up sides
Step 6: Use a cap or make your own for the peak
Step 7: OP is a *******
