Do some research on government paybands. You make way more in the private sector and most RRSP plans trump the defined benefit pensions that are offered, and you get to keep the money when you die.

member way back when i was an apprentice glazer (window installer) these two full blood indians were temp workers for us (assigned by gov program) but part of their conditions was that they werent allowed to work over 10feet high on scaffolding or carry more then 25lbs. and this was a commercial window company, JUST LOL. they "worked" aka sat in the truck listening to the radio all day for like 2-3 months or how ever many hours they needed until they could go back on EI for how ever long and restart the process again.

Life on the rez is a raw deal most of the time. At least in the US, they are the most impoverished areas in the country. Lots of alcoholism, child suicides, lack of infrastructure, and that sort of thing.

I don't have an opinion of affirmative action, but I have some Indigenous family and think people on the rez face more struggles than of any group in the country. The only thing I think that compares are illegal migrant workers.

The strangest irony is that my bro who got a 25% Native government scholarship is actually a white supremacist. I don't know what it's like in Canada, but I've heard that First Nations are treated like black folks in the US, which is also strange as Canadians seem generally accepting to black folks both historically and in modern times.
