Is gaming better than ever?

People say oldschool games were the goat but games now days are almost photo realistic looking and extremely smooth compared to the old blocky games of the + a lot of quality games are basically free on subscription

Halo is better than ever. COD is better than ever. Racing games are better than ever. Open world games might as well be real life just look at Horizon Zero Dawn.

Wrestling and sports games suck, but the rest of the games are pretty damn good srs

This is probably the best time to be a gamer since at least the late 90's and early 2000's srs

I just miss the days where you can rent a game from blockbuster, pop that bish in, and actually play it.

Now when you buy/rent a game, you have to install it which will take all night, then it has to update (another few hours). Like wtf. Then there is downloadable content in the game which requires a subscription or some more $$ to get the premium shyt.

Halo and Cod are not better than ever, Halo peaked at Halo 3 and COD MW2. But the quality of games these days is getting pretty impressive, however they aren't as unique as they were before.

My take, hardware and graphics have made leaps and bounds. Games today offer incredible features and visuals, however I find that very few games have a good story or unique features compared to the past. Have there been modern games that I'd enjoyed playing and made my favorites list? Yes, but not the same count as when I was playing games when I was younger.

Got bored of video games like 2 years ago

How many rounds of team deathmatch can you play? I’ve been at that since goldeneye in 1998.

There’s some unique gems but they’re few and far between. That Detroit game about the androids was pretty dope. Kingdom Come was cool being an unknown peasant exploring various hamlets and villages.

FPS’s all ****ing suck and bore me to tears.

Halo MCC and the last two COD games are incredible

And then there are games like Forza and Horizon Zero Dawn that are breathtaking and beautiful

nah, too many soyboi millennial devos putting out games now, whereas classics like Halo 2 were primarily the product of Gen X who pioneered and grew up with NES and Sega.

No. Every game is either a remake or sequel. In fact, everything seems to be a remake these days. We haven't even gotten GTA 6 or Elder Scrolls 6 yet and it's been almost 10 years.

There needs to be more originality. People should quit buying "remasters."

I'd say yes in some ways no in others.

Yes because better graphics and gaming hardware to enable better immersion, better story telling and creativity.

No because there's literally too many games out these days in general as far as multiplayer goes. Back in the OG days there were like 3-5 multiplayer games at a time that people were playing. Now a days there's too many games, and your posse isn't always playing the same thing. Examples, a lot of my friends are playing WoW Classic / TBC, but me and several others are playing ESO. Lots of friends wanna play CoD Warzone, but many others are playing Apex Legends and PUBG.

Community feels more divided than ever. At least to me it does.

Also no because a lot of games are clearly profit centric, and less about giving quality enjoyable products.

yes and no, better graphics and better potential, but I feel the people making video games are more immature and spastic or restricted by what will make money as opposed to making something unique

tactical shooters are becoming less tactical (ie brothers in arms, rainbow six, ghost recon) and single player games are becoming cornier (including Halo), multiplayer has definitely expanded, especially MCC but like another poster said how many times can you play deathmatch before it gets old

Mirrors Edge was one of my favorite games though, kingdome come looks good though I never played it, and I have high hopes for six days

At the moment I am not gaming though. Haven't bought a new console since the 360.

Make eye contact with a girl, pass out and get a concussion crew
T-Mobile worker laughed at me because only had one number for 5-friends/family plan crew

The best thing to do is deliberately stay behind in technology, and therefore enjoy older games for free.

I've never even touched a controller beyond PS2, srs.

And here I am, using an emulator and usb rumblepad2 to play Zelda T.P. and having as much fun as anyone who has spent chit tons of money on every new console in the last 20 years.

amazing games and graphics. but there was some greatness to playing N64 007 or Mario Kart with 3 buddies in the room, talking chit.

Today, online gaming is just like Zoom, etc.

It's convenient but just not as good.
