What would happen if the planet Earth was cut in half?

Do you think life would be possible to sustain on one of these halfs?

I mean earth has its core and Im not a scientist lol but I guess earths core is responsible for earths atmosphere and ozon so imagine if earth was cut in half I guess there wouldnt be oxygen on either of those halfs.

Nothing at all.

Well overstatement- it would make two planets and they drift apart.

If you're not on the half of the planet that has all the good stuff that would suck.

That's why grandma's apple pie rocks and yours sucks.

The magnetic field would stop working. We'd all get bombarded by radiation. We'd all die.

Its gravity would be affected, we’d all probably start flying away.
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.

Nah earth is 4x as big as the moon. Even if cut in half, the gravity would be sufficient.

The atmosphere would get sucked into the vacuum of space and we would all die.

Then both halves of the earth would drift out of orbit with the sun into god knows where... probably out of the solar system entirely.

There's actually an alien civilization in the center of the earth. (currently there's a black empty hole in the absolute center) but the government doesn't tell you that it's occupied by aliens.
They get their energy from the heat of the earth's core around them. Highly civilized chit.
I wonder what they'd do once the earth got split into 2 halves.

The two parts are part of a gravitational system. The Earth is going to rotate still but depending on the speed of the chopped Earth around the sun the parts would start to split. Is it cut in half vertically or horizontally? Depending on orbit speed the parts will drift apart and traverse the same orbit. They will either move off into space or... start getting pulled into the sun. But the parts will separate but still be in the same orbit for a bit.

But, OP will die. The rest of us will be fine.

Earth core is magnetic, so it would just get back together

the process of splitting the earth in half would be an extinction level event. All life would cease. There would be no sentient beings to describe what came next.

I always wonder why there’s no turbulence for our entire planet.

We’re traveling pretty fukking fast, right? How come there’s never any bumps/turbulence? I know we have earthquakes but that’s just the earth’s crust. Is it because there’s no air in space? No air = no turbulence?

An object in motions tends to stay...... keep up with me here. The "space" in the solar system is not a perfect vacuum but it is close enough, 0 resistance.

80% of women and 5% of chads would float off on one half.

20% of women and 95% of incels would float off on the other.

So, basically, nothing would change for you OP. You'd still have dry peen syndrome.

Because space is a near vacuum state, and the earth is mostly moving along its inertial trajectory across curved spacetime (caused by the gravitational field of the sun), too slow to escape.

Also all velocity but the speed of light is relative, in the earths reference frame we can be described as stationary, or moving at a constant velocity which are essentially the same thing (but spinning)

Captain's Log: Stardate 62350.6

An unfathomable catastrophe has occured during our routine 'Misc Coin' resupply mission to the terran moon.

Interstellar botanist, StoneColdMarko7 has reported witnessing the Earth being 'cut in half' by an irresistable force. Shortly before collapsing from shock his last words were, "I'm not a scientist, lol".

With the help of my Number two, Eatyourspinach (who was mumbling something about upping the dosage (?) - StoneColdMarko7 was carried to med-bay and placed in theverycapable hands of our doctor, TugOfPeace - renowned worldwide for his bedside manner.

As ship's Captain, I am unsure of how to proceed. My chief science officer Jax05 is attempting to calm the crew, reassuring them that as the Earth is magnetic at its core, it will simply stick itself back together.

I wish I shared his optimisim. If this is my last commission, let the record show that I am proud to have worked with such a fine group of boyos.

This is Captain Jandels of the USS Lifter signing off.

If it spun apart, then it would settle into 2 planets. Absolutely everything living would die when the entire crust disintigrates into molten lava and the seas boil and the atmosphere roils off into space.
