Swolen gums, jaw/neck sore

I think I have a tooth abscess or something of that nature

Theres a small amount of red swelling on my gums around my tooth and some jaw soreness/inflammation on the same side of the tooth

Should I wait it out or go to the dentist today/tomorrow

yeah, he's not joking, root infections left unchecked can literally kill you because of the proximity to the sinus/brain

also if you end up needing a root canal and the infection is bad enough, it means you get to live with the pain for another week while antibiotics do their job before the dentist/endodontist will even do the root canal for fear of sealing infection in there

i had one that abcessed and it actually permanently damaged the adjacent tooth too
