Metal peaked with Thrash

Perfect balance of speed, heaviness and melody. Don't care if i'm coming off as a casual.

All that grunting, squealing, with barely unintelligible lyrics is complete and utter garbage.

It's either 80's thrash/heavy metal or melodic death metal

The guitar work from bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Dokken are absolute top tier and they had great vocals that anyone can listen to

ah yes, the genre so "heavy" you hear it while buying your groceries and played on repeat across 90's pop stations

lmao

black sabbath had a darker nastier sound and they preceded that genre decades. thrash is hair metal level 2

This happened lol. We all know how much teenage girls and elderly women love 80's Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer.

Imagine walking into your local grocery store and they're blasting Reigning Blood lol.

I wouldn't be shocked to hear Paranoid or War Pigs "while buying groceries" either.

you're actually delusional if you don't think kids think of metallica as nothing more than a 90's rock/pop band dead srs

nope, but put that into perspective here of people that think metallica is "dark and heavy". when's the last time you heard pantera walking in to buy a new pair of shoes?

Okay, well later Metallica yeah...no one would consider that Thrash though. Not sure why you're fixating on them specifically, when EOD was the only one to mention them anyway.

That's besides the point. The original subject of the thread was how 80's thrash is GOAT, not how Metallica is perceived by teenagers nowadays.

Metallica's music in the 90's was more hard rock with traces of blues, but their 80's material is still great and timeless.

metallica is the only one that held up to the test of time while the rest are only enjoyed by guitar nerds and people that grew up listening to them. The genre was a relic of its time, it didn't hold up
