Metal peaked with Thrash
Perfect balance of speed, heaviness and melody. Don't care if i'm coming off as a casual.
All that grunting, squealing, with barely unintelligible lyrics is complete and utter garbage.

It's either 80's thrash/heavy metal or melodic death metal
The guitar work from bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Dokken are absolute top tier and they had great vocals that anyone can listen to

ah yes, the genre so "heavy" you hear it while buying your groceries and played on repeat across 90's pop stations
lmao
black sabbath had a darker nastier sound and they preceded that genre decades. thrash is hair metal level 2

Metallica's music in the 90's was more hard rock with traces of blues, but their 80's material is still great and timeless.
