Man shoots thief, ties man alive to truck, drives to empty field

Campbell told police he saw two legs sticking out from under the truck when he opened the passenger door and fired “straight down” at the suspected thief. Campbell said he then fired two more shots at the man, according to court documents.

The man attempted to get into his vehicle but collapsed, court documents say. Campbell told police he then tied the man to the ball hitch of the F-150. Campbell said he dragged the man into a nearby field and left him.

Campbell told police the suspected thief was still alive and talking when he was tied up and dragged to the field before being abandoned, according to court documents.

According to court documents, a truck driver was sleeping in their vehicle in the park

Wait who's the thief/criminal? Each video is describing them as "Victims" like this guy went on a rampage hitting random people. Murder and kidnapping charges, what?

nah, i was all for the backwoods justice that happened to that one rich family due to multiple people dying around them, but this? das not it. I understand hating thieves but material objects can be replaced. This was over the top.

if he just shot him and insisted he feared for his life because someone was trying to get into his vehicle while he was asleep he'd probably be fine.

i'm not really against all this but in court it's not going to be easy to defend the bit about tying the guy up, dragging him, leaving him. if you just took care of it in the heat of the moment I bet you'd walk.

He wasn't a car-jacker, he was under the car stealing the catalytic converter. Catalytic converter thieves are the worst. I wish there were a way this wasn't a crime.

He was under the vehicle cutting off the catalytic converter. So, if he had heard the guy and just driven off, "accidentally" running him over on the way out...

Over the top. Vigilante justice is not it unless someone murdered your family member. Not that I have any sympathy for the thief, but this is why we have a justice system and laws. Broken as they may be.

This. Be smart. Shoot the guy and say you feared for your life or it looked like he was reaching for a gun. Maybe even make up a story about having PTSD from being robbed and beaten in the past.
