Lifting before bed bad for sleep? Srs

Lately I’ve been having issues falling asleep, Im just not tired when its time to go to bed. The only thing that changed the past few months is that I lift at 7:30pm and do a bunch of sprints at around 8:30pm. My bed time is usually 11pm.

Some days I fall asleep within minutes and others I will not fall asleep until 3am… fuk

I always watch tv before bed but I put it with the “warm” effect and I lower the backlight and brightness.

I think the general broscience consensus is that working out late is not good for sleep. Through my early 30's I use to play basketball after 8 PM once a week. Always had a terrible time sleeping afterwards. As a teenager it didn't seem to bother me. However, if you are consistent your body will probably adapt somewhat.

Might not be the same for everyone but work outs wake me up even if I feel tired after them. I almost never can fall asleep after any physical activity (sexorz including which is weird as it helps most men to fall asleep afterwards.

I don’t take a preworkout after 6pm. I feel the residual chemicals keeps me up past 12am. Even when I do squats or deadlifts.

Lots of people mentioned pre workout, I take very little caffeine if any. Usually from soda or chocolate milk but those are 0-10mg.

It shouldn’t keep you up. If anything a good workout is going to make you fall asleep like a baby. Especially if you ingest casein protein before bed.

Caffeine starts working in about 10 min and has a half-life of 4-5 hours. Can keep you awake for a long time.

Morning workouts can suck sometimes, but personally it puts me in a good state of mind for the whole day.

By the time the evening rolls around, my body is ready to sleep and get those gains.

That is the stage that your muscles actually grow, when they are being repaired in your sleep.

Sleep is as crucial as protein or lifting.

I lift around 830 pm. I try and knock out around 11/1130 and some nights it's not easy. Your body is still producing stress hormones from lifting and hasn't really calmed down yet.

As I'm getting a bit older 30+, I've been noticing how sensitive my sleep is becoming. srs.
