Been in Cali my entire life , was blown away when I went to New York two years ago, was a whole new world to me. Want to go experience a different culture and I feel like New Orleans would be pretty cool. What do you guys think or what place y’all recommend? I’m talking like a week long trip. I also really love seafood

Amazing food and party scene if you want that. If you just want to relax, a lot of amazing placrs to just chill and listen to music also. Fun place to go, definitely go

No direct experience. Had a friend who lived there and they moved out at the beginning of covid because **** went down hill, crime was rampant. Not sure what its like now but they said it was pretty rough.

NOLA is one of my favorite places to visit. It has some of the nations best food, music and party life..

My recommendation is to not stay on Bourbon street the entire time. Visit the jazz district and get off of the main strip...

-Do not waste your time at Cafe Du monde..There are a hundred better place with coffee and beignets. You WILL need coffee and beignets after the first night - LULZ
-Make sure to eat dinner at Mister Bs bistro. The best Shrimp and grits you will have
-Dragos is a great "on the strip" choice for oysters. There are better oysters in NOLA but its not worth the drive/effort
-Big A** beers beers half way down the strip with the sliced pizza is amazing and can really cut your spend down
-The candy shops are worth every penny
-The art in the square is nice to hit and check out
-Get a Muffuletta at central grocery
-Walking ghost tours are a blast and so are the swamp tours..Yes cheesy but dont care.
-Do NOT take a piss on Bourbon street. The cops WILL tune you up and throw you in jail. My best friend received a beating and ended up in jail until Monday morning for the judge to arrive. To be fair he did mouth off to the cop.
-Watch out for pickpockets even if the strip isnt busy..
-Mardi Gras is absolutely overrated. Cant get a drink. Cant go to the bathroom. Cant move. Beads ankle deep so street is impossible to walk on. The worst crowd shows up. You will have a better time late spring/early fall..
-Pat Obriens for a hurricane because the place is awesome and you cant go to NOLA without a hurricane. It is packed and a party.

Im sure there are locals that will chime in and say Im wrong but I've enjoyed all of the above from a tourist perspective (which is what you will have). I personally like NOLA more than Vegas. Vegas is pretentious and its a bunch of broke people acting rich and the business charge outrageous prices. NOLA is a bunch of broke people acting like broke people and businesses tend to charge people a fair price. If you are single you will get a much better response from women in NOLA than in Vegas.

i've spent at least 20-25 days in NOLA due to my job. it isn't an easy destination for a work trip. i'm sure if i was there with my buddies to party for 2-3 nights i'd enjoy it.

Dragos, mentioned above, char-broils their oysters. that was one of the best dishes i've ever had in my life, srs.
one of the times we stayed an extra day and did a gator tour nearby. great time.

it's rough at night. i feel like it's comparable to vegas where after a day or two you're wondering why you'd ever stay longer. but to be fair, i was working and i was staying downtown for 99% of it. i did not get out and experience the jazz and culture/local spots, just the mainstream ones.

Stay off Bourbon St. I mean, it's cool and all but there are a lot of other areas. Frenchmens St has the best music. Every bar has a different band. It's great to bar hop there and find your perfect band. I like jazzy/funk

NO is a dirty, disgusting, chit hole that still hasn’t recovered from Katrina.

I haven't been there since the hurricane, but when I went it was cool. Great food. My wife went a few years ago and said it's now a chit hole.

As someone who lives near New Orleans, it's definitely worth going to and getting a few nights of partying. Go for Mardi Gras and its pretty wild.


One very important detail. Stay strapped or stay in a group. If you go solo or with your gf/wife whatever you will potentially get robbed. Srs, profile out there because the scum are everywhere looking to take advantage of you.


Other than that and the homeless people chitting in the streets its a great city

Great food. When I was there, I felt like Nola is just a giant tourist trap, especially all around Bourbon Street. Just like Times Square in NYC.
