Just bought house - furnish now, or wait?? (RE lumber costs)

So far I've bought the more essential things - a bed and couches.

But for things that are have a lot of wood inputs - specifically a dining room table set, second desk for my bedroom, nightstands, does it make sense to wait to purchase these items since lumber prices are at all time highs?

Nice dining room sets (table + 4 chairs) are anywhere from $1000 on the crappy end to 3k+ for nicer ones. Desk I want is around $1400. Cheaper nightstands are $150ish each, all the way up to $400. I'm looking specifically at mid century modern style stuff to match the style of my house.

Buy now, or will prices come down as the year progresses?

Not entirely sure how much lumber prices affect furniture

Furniture prices are spiking here in Canada because of tariffs put on Chinese/Vietnamese dumping but don’t know if the US has done something similar

personally I would buy now because I wouldn't want to live without dining table or end tables etc.

if you said something like "should I finish my basement now or wait" then I would absolutely say wait. But you're certainly not going to see pricing of furniture come down more than 10-15%

the things I'm debating waiting on are things I can live without for now

I bought a patio set (steel/glass) and I have a desk here in the office, so I can eat at either of those places.

I have end table/coffee table for living room that are brass/faux marble

night stands I have old crappy one I can use in the time being, dining room table really is more for when having company over. Console table I'm looking at is more decorative than functional, etc

basically the stuff I'm debating is all stuff I can live without for the time being

Idk man all my furniture was handed down. It's really easy to spend money, much harder to save it.

I just defer all interior decorating questions to the woman in my life.

Good wood furniture is something worth checking the second hand market for. Often people need to sell high quality pieces at short notice as they move and no longer have a place for it, or don't want to pay to transport it.

If you are determined to purchase new then most is made in Asia and shipped in so I wouldn't expect prices to be reduced because of US lumber prices changing.

I doubt lumber affects furniture prices. I'm jelly of you ameribrahs having access some restoration hardware, they have some really nice stuff for imo reasonable prices:

I just refurbished my entire house. Did it thru Raynor Flanigan and paid for the white glove service so those ****ers came in set everything up and I didn't even have to bat an eyelash.

I also have 2 broken ribs so I can't really do **** so I kinda had to lolol.


King size temperpedic with electric bed frame, huge corner wrap around sectional couch, dining room table, smaller bar high table with stools for in the kitchen, and a couple of shelf bookcase things.


I found a nice 5pc table set for 1.3k. Dark cherry wood or some shiz. Bed was around 4k, couch was 5k, book cases were a few hundred. Delivery was 250 with setup.


Idk man I had like old stuff and used stuff for so long it was time to get all my own new nice stuff. Yanked a bunch of money out of crypto before the crash so I balled out a bit.
