UKcels, why do you love soccer/football so much?

I don't get it, I've tried to get into it but it's just boring. The most annoying thing is the players are such poosies, rolling around grabbing their knee pretending the other team did it just to get a free kick is the most pathetic display a man can perform, in front of millions of people too.

Fu King LOL. Try doing something like this, then you'd have a reason to roll on the ground crying.

Also hilarious it can end in a tie 0-0

watch 90 mins of kicking back and forth with flopping all to end up in a tie with no goals, sounds great

I've really tried to get into soccer but its just not fun to watch on TV. I will say that the lack of commercials is awesome. Rugby 7s on the other hand is really fun to watch. I've never tried to watch the other type of rugby but I would be open to it

For someone who doesn't watch the sport I can appreciate a low scoring game being boring.

But for a fan who has played/watched this sport their whole life, you appreciate more than the goals.
You appreciate the last ditch tackle, the block, the 60 yard switch to feet, the big defensive header. There is so much more to a game than the scoring of the goals that you notice and appreciate the more you watch it.

This is the main reason I can't get into it. A whole ass game goes on for an hour and a half and nobody scored? Fuk that.

I was thinking about this the other night while seeing some sportscenter recap of the Euros. Can we talk about how absurd the penalty kicks are?Exclude the fact that the sport is full of flopping *******s (though you can make the argument that's happening a lot in NBA now)

But no seriously, the sport can go on for 2 hours and end in a score of 0-0 because it's that hard to get the ball in with a loaded field. Enter penalty kicks. In hockey the goalie damn near takes up the entire goal he's protecting so theres that. A goalie standing in front of a penalty kick in soccer may as well be a Gold Fish in a fish bowl with a shot gun pointed at it.

If that wasn't egregious enough, in soccer THE PERSON WHO IS FOULED DOESN'T EVEN HAVE TO TAKE THE SHOT. Like what in the actual fuk? So you mean to tell me, that the person who is fouled and has the tall task of putting a small ball into a target thats the size of a BARN doesn't even have to take it if there's someone else on the team more "skilled" to do so???? Imagine the nba if a center was getting hacked in the paint and you could just send steph curry or james harden to the free throw line in their place. like what in the actual fuk.

I was having these thoughts stoned the other night but looked up the data sober

"At time of writing (January 6, 2021), 1,894 out of 2,278 penalties awarded in Premier League history have been scored, equating to a success rate of 83.14 per cent.

Meanwhile, only 90 (3.95 per cent) have missed the target, with the remaining 294 (12.91 per cent) saved by the opposition goalkeeper."

That would be like if american football had field goals be worth 20 points or some schit. I consider myself a cultured well travelled man, but my god I hate pretending like soccer/futbol isn't the biggest crock of schit around my euro homies.

I like UFC and soccer. If the argument is that soccer sucks because of flopping and you watch the NBA, I got bad news for you son. What's more pathetic than 5'9 dudes being tackled by the legs falling to the ground? Try 6'8, 250 lb liberal soyboys acting like they got shot because of a little contact:
