Recommendations for suit shopping? 80k reps

Last time I bought a suit I was 21, got one off the rack at Express for pretty cheap, and it was okay.

Now going into my late 20s, need one for a wedding, and can do better than poverty express. Macys/Nordstrom off the rack and tailored? Custom measured from somewhere like Indichino? Reps for recommendations

Rent and pay the premium to have it fitted if necessary

just lol at paying $500+ for a new suit that might only be worn once if not twice

I had a basic black suit fitted many years ago for a funeral.

I still use it to this day, and it still looks decent.

I think that's all you ever really need.

Just get something that lasts or use what you have I'd say.

You can always have like 20 different suits if you want, but it may not be needed.

if your only wearing it once in a while get something mid-low on price and then go find the best tailor you can. Fit >>>> quality but fit + quality is even better if you have the budget and desire

Easiest thing I found was to get something from Macy’s when they have their sales and have them alter it for your fit. Keep in mind that they will only do alterations for stuff purchased from them and once they do the alterations you can’t return it.

I have 7 suits in my wardrobe srs. I used to get free clothes at an old workplace

I’ll send them to you for $150. Bare in mind they are unworn and worth $700 each. Most still have the tags on. What’s your size?

1) Single vent = classic American look. Double Vent = classic British look. Go for single vent, it looks better.
2) Make sure it fits well in the deltoids and trapezius areas, old saying: "if a suit fits well in the shoulders, it looks more expensive and looks better overall."
3) Get single breasted suits... double breasted suits are more ceremonial, you can't really wear a double-breasted suit to a job interview.
4) Get a dark "charcoal" color suit or very dark blue suit... Charcoal is preferable because it's socially acceptable in all settings.

A cheaper suit off the rack can look just as good as a tailored suit as long as it fits well, especially in the shoulders.

This. When I started making money I bought two brooks brothers suits and they are too small for me now after about 7 years. ( dem shoulder gainz)

Rent and you will save money long term.

Buy a suit from Nordstrom/Macy's and have them tailor it.

Main thing is to make sure the jacket fits properly in the shoulders as the waist and sleeves can be easily altered. The shoulders on a jacket are hard to alter.

Slight break for the trousers works best IMO.

Get on Macy's or Nordstrom's mailing list. They have continual sales.

Dont go crazy spending stupid money on it unless you wear it a lot.

Have never been able to find a suit off the rack that even comes close to fitting. Need a size 48-50 for my shoulders/back but ends up looking like a garbage bag around my waist. I just wear slacks and a vest now...... I go to formal events like 1-2x a year and don't feel like wasting money on a custom suit that will collect dust for 95% of the year.

Custom made is probably the best way to go. But unless you're going to asia on a trip, it might be expensive.

I know this feel. Being 6’6” 280 makes a suit a tough fit. End up with that big middle because off the rack assumes I’m a fat fuk.

Op, I’d seriously look into one of those places where they let you pick the fabric and measure you. I’d stick with a navy suit, you can wear that for almost any occasion and it looks sharp af.
