It’s only appealing to the stereotype that women like a**holes. So you’re exploiting this narrative tactfully so as not to completely turn her off with insults. Basically it only works if you’ve established some basic level of rapport so while you surprise her that someone she thought was a nice guy is being critical of her, you don’t come off as a complete dickhead

Negging or 'mansplaining' is another name for being condescending - that is talking to somebody who you deem to be, 'below you' in whatever regard.

So you can neg somebody to get attention like a really pretty chick you can make fun of her appearance to manipulate her or usually what women do is make a man question his masculinity, "you're not a real man if you do that or don't do this", etc.

I used to be and still am naturally condescending and sarcastic, as a way to deflect and protect my ego - the thing is if you stick around somebody who does this to you, you're the one with the problem, not them.

It's actually funny and lots of the time it's part of banter - thing is it usually leaves emotionally vulnerable people feeling weak.

Otherwise, you just ignore it if you're emotionally and mentally stable.

I've had this really get to me, but only because i f*cked up and lost face/social status, as in random stuff from years back starts hurting that you didn't even think much of back in the day.

So the secret is practising ego non attachment, because somebody will always be above you and be ready to give you attitude.
