Does your wives/GF's dad like you?

First time I met my GFs dad basically grunted at me after my GF introduced us. I Was the sober cab for her mom's birthday and I was basically prepped that he's not gonna like you for awhile, he's a retired infantry Mst Sgt and a bit of a hard ass apparently.

Next time we meet at a family BBQ I casually mention some mutual things regarding ROTC and Army life we have together and dude basically lit up and talked to me for an hour while the rest of the family was shocked. Now anytime I'm over he's always wanting to play dominos or watch/talk sports.

Let's talk about your relationship with your girls Dad.. was it a struggle? You guys at a good place?

have never had any issues with a girls dad not being a fan


its always been the mothers that have caused issues (ded fkn Srs) not that they didnt like me but just being insufferable kunts in general

I don't meet them. Last actually serious relationship I was in (one of the very few and she actually did meet my parents)) her dad lived in Haiti, so I never met him. He sounded pretty based though.

this is why i date girls with no fathers and severe daddy issues.

Least last relationship I was in it was like that.

I can say from watching my dad with my brother in law who after 15+ years he still doesnt like. (i can tell)... I think he thinks hes too beta to be with his daughter

Wife’s dad was pretty alpha former drill sergeant - literally was cleaning his 1911 the first time I came over. Super serious, straight laced, quite guy. Only time I heard him talk was when Jeopardy was on, he knew almost every answer and he was impressed with my ability to keep up with him. We weren’t bros, but I always respected him so there was no tension. I could make him laugh out loud (something he never did and something his buddies from high school had never seen).

Always wished I had a father in law I could golf with and have a few brews with. He was just not that guy.
