I'm in nursing school and I do everything from my desktop, but it's really inconvenient for group projects since everyone else has a laptop, so I am in need of one as well.

I don't need it for ANY sort of gaming, this laptop will 100% be strictly used for school work. So that means connecting to my schools version of Zoom(online moodle), doing word, powerpoint, excel, etc... Obviously it does not need a ton of power, but I'd also prefer it wasn't a laggy piece of chit that struggles to even boot up Chrome and YouTube like some do.

I'd like it to remain cheap, I don't really feel like spending $1000 on a laptop dedicated to writing research papers and zoom calls.

My Microsoft Surface Laptop Go is pretty hard to beat. No joke it's the perfect small laptop for everything besides gaming and it's my daily driver as far as computers go. You got a 12" screen in 3:2 that looks amazing, it's very compact and easy to take around and use anywhere, the build quality is great, it's relatively cheap, and you get the full Windows PC experience. They also got bigger Surface laptops if you aren't a fan of small computers. Outside of that, maybe get a Lenovo Thinkpad? That is usually the classic business/school laptop.

Damn that looks great, a little expensive since the Canadian dollar is chit so everything is expensive, but I will have to add that one to the top of the list.


Has anyone ever used Amazon Warehouse deals? They have one for $100 cheaper than brand new, with the subtext of "slight cosmetic damage to the outside less than 5%" ...

I use an Asus zenbook (cant remember which model but I bought it in 2019) .... It's decent, although 4b of ram means that sometimes it does lag a little bit if i open up waaaay too many tabs and try to do too many things at once... But for the most its pretty damn solid for schooling needs and was relatively inexpensive iirc.

ive purchased from amazon warehouse before. normally they are talking about the box being damaged, everything i've gotten was brand new.
