COVID: How's your county faring?
No panic-cel, nor a vax-cel, however am a bit concerned. frankdtank20 has made some pretty decent posts recently, and one stuck out to me-he mentioned his county hasn't had a single additional ICU bed being used for COVID so I decided to check my own county.
Date - COVID patients
July 1- 6 ICU
July 8- 8 ICU
July 15- 10 ICU
July 22- 14 ICU
July 26- 15 ICU
July 27- 19 ICU
July 28- 27 ICU
July 29- 28 ICU
In addition, the number of people on ventilators also went from 3 to 16.
I'm not posting to flap around in panic, but damn these are the numbers in black and white. I think this chit is a bit more serious than nationwide numbers are showing right now. Just like the first wave, we don't all get hit at once-it goes from region to region, some doing fine till it's their turn.
Not a vaxx thread, nor a political one, just real talk. Hoping for some serious discussion here with some of the more levelheaded posters here.

We are doing just fine currently. I'm sure we will see an uptick in cases because we finally just opened to relatively normal life. But ICU numbers are still dropping and we've had Delta as 90% of our cases for at least six weeks. And we have the highest vaccine uptake in the world currently.
Honestly if things stay the way they are now with minor restrictions and schools reopen in the fall my life is pretty much back to normal. I could care less about wearing masks in stores. Travel is a whole other story, I have a trip to Vegas in November I'm starting to get nervous about.

We have one in hospital with covid we just flew in from Fiji.
They are currently the most infected country in the world per capita, and we like to look after our neighbours.

Time for an update. For anyone interested I reside in Douglas County, NE. Stats pulled from the county health page:
https://www.douglascountyhealth.com/latest-news
July 01- 06 ICU
July 08- 08 ICU
July 15- 10 ICU
July 22- 14 ICU
July 26- 15 ICU
July 27- 19 ICU
July 28- 27 ICU
July 29- 28 ICU
July 30- 35 ICU
People on ventilators also went from 3 to 16 from the 1st to the 28th, however on the 29th they went to 11 and on the 30th COVID ventilator patients are at 12.
I wish I had access to historical data from previous years to compare ICU beds filled to comparable time frames. If the end of July has a historic rise of ICU patients from things such as pneumonia or some other respiratory issue, maybe these numbers don't mean so much.

Another update:
ICU patients going down, but amount of patients on vent went from 12 to 16 since the 30th. There's been 1 death since 7/16, prior to that it was 1-2 deaths every day or 2. The time period is somewhat short to say this, but I believe the worst of this wave is winding down. I hope.
