Basically anything with a license to serve the public as they're generally seen as better educated and more trustworthy than the alternative. (public engineer, doctors, CPA, lawyers, etc)

a NYC VP investment banker is going to be making a lot of money and know how to use it. Most likely also going to have a lot of degrees with a lot of post graduate degrees/certs as well.

lol let me guess OP, college kid? Get older and you realize no one gives a chit and there really isn't much prestige in any of it. You won't impress anyone with your job in these fields except for other people in these fields trying to break in, being dead serious.

Investment banker - think you are a badass but often just a coping loser, trying to be the cool kid he never was. Compensates by doing drugs off an Amex black card, going out whenever you have an ounce of free time, etc. in reality just is an excel and deck monkey on a computer 80 hours a week.

Google programmer - king of nerd surrounded by other nerds. Become infested with leftist politics, enjoy being a walking stereotype. Make six figures, still have a terrible quality of living in San Fran sharing a flat with 2 other guys and waking up to homeless chit on your driveway.

DC higher up - don't know any of these to accurately talk about, so will pass.

I'm NOT saying don't pursue the above careers. But if you do , then do it for you. Strangers dont care, trust me - women dont care, the person you talk to at a cocktail party doesnt care, the 'prestige' means nothing.. If you mention any of those jobs or similar top tier corporate jobs (consulting, law, etc.) the most you will get is a 'oh that's nice' and some pretty stale work talk. Might not sound the case when you are 20 but trust me - these are boring jobs. I've worked a few of them, got an MBA from a top program so have plenty of friends in these fields as well, and can tell you the prestige is all in your head.

If you really want 'prestige' where someone respects you for your career, gets energized when you mention what you do, wants to hear stories - then that does exist. It's called being a pilot, a doctor, or a business owner, etc. If you want to seek prestige or an X factor in life then do actual prestigious things. Backpack the Appalachian trial. Compete in triathlons. Speak mandarin. Could be damn near anything. But if you are trying to get that from your career or the car you drive then you are just lacking that and trying to make it artificially.

Speaking from experience.
