Never occured to me until now that Lars Ulrich is an actual Dane

apparently he moved to Los Angeles at the age of 16

I always thought he was born in the US but with Danish ancestry

and his father was a well known danish tennis player and a filmmaker

Lived in Denmark for about 8 months, and EVERYONE I knew could play at least one musical instrument very well and speak at least three languages.

Double bass drumming is one of the cornerstones of 80s-90s thrash metal and Lars just totally gave up on maintaining it to the point that he doesn't even bother doing it anymore in studio or live for the older Metallica songs that had it.
Listening to any modern Metallica song just makes me think about what they'd be doing if Lars didn't become 100% complacent. All of Hetfield's riffs had to be dumbed down over the years to meet Lars' progressive technical decline.
