Rome is great but the quality sucks. I tried rewatching it last year. The war scenes were poverty. You can tell they had a low budget. I loved it when I 1st saw it though. I've never seen Spartacus.

Only the battle scenes’ quality sucked. Everything else about that show was super high level and their budget was insanely high. I think nearly as high as Game of Thrones. It only lasted 2 seasons strictly because of the high budget.

Spartacus Blood and Sand, Spartacus Gods of the Arena were good, the rest of the seasons were boring.

Rome season 1 was good. Season 2 wasn't good.

I'd say Rome is superior because you could actually learn some history from it. Ciaran Hinds' portray of Caesar was absolutely magnificent, I'd imagine that's probably how the real Caesar carried himself. And the two actors that portrayed the young and adult Octavian was probably exactly how Octavian/Augustus was in real life - cold, emotionless, ruthless, intelligent, unyielding.

You will be recommended Rome as its more high brow with a more subtle subject matter. It IS a pretty good show but not nearly as much fun and it doesnt really have an ending.

Spartacus is a ton more gripping from beginning to end and has a lot more emotional ups and downs, not to mention an actual epic ending. Could do with a lit less cawk though

Rome is a better show, but I enjoyed myself more watching Spartacus if that makes sense.

Simpler more gripping plot (I'm a sucker for revenge stories), more action, and the dialogue is simply GOAT.
