Why do some liberals pretend to be so compassionate
But then say chit like “you’re either part of the solution or part of the problem”?? That seems like a super damaging thing to say.

All the empathy they display is for show. They never do anything charitable without telling someone about it. It's empathy/sympathy for the sake of the ego, basically.

They want YOU to have empathy for others but who cares about your situation.
Most interesting thing I heard was where someone suggested I should be willing to give things up for the benefits of others. When I argue that I don't have enough to give out, they said that I should have gone to a good college and applied myself so I would be able to make enough where giving wouldn't hurt me. When I asked why the less fortunate can't do the same, I was told it's not that simple for a lot of people.

Liberals and leftists are not motivated by compassion, empathy, or love. They are motivated by hatred, a hatred of whites, especially conservative whites. Also even though I am an Agnostic-Athiest I see the Left has a clear bias against Christianity because they associate it with rural whites.
It explains a lot of their seemingly hypocritical attitudes. They cozy up to Muslims despite the fact they're generally more "homophobic"/"antisemitic" than Christians. Why? Because Islam is the "non-white" religion in their mind. They are even okay with the cringey pro-LGBTBBQ "Christians" because they know it's actually an attack on Christianity from within on a certain level.
They're extremely hateful people deep down. Whites are simply the target of their hatred.

Honestly, the people who pompously claim compassion often seem like the most selfish people trying to convince others (and probably themselves) otherwise.
I’d say some conservatives are like this, but I think the approach to compassion is generally what separates liberals and conservatives.
By no means do I claim to be the most compassionate person, but I like to think I often have people’s best interest in mind.

The clever ones know the faux sympathy is a tool for manipulation. The masses are just brainwashed into thinking their opinion is the popular or correct one, so to go against it is sacrilege and should be detested. That's how a cult operates.

OP it adds some value to their humdrum existence.
They are perhaps the least reflective group in human history... because there wasn't always a fukin database of previous stances like the internet.
abortions out of sheer convenience....totally acceptable. We must also shut down the country to save grandma.

same thing with saying, "you're either anti-racist or racist"... "you're either against all terrorists or are a terrorist yourself"
add in false equivalence, tu quoque, and ad hominem, and you can just see through this chit easily. the reason why ppl do this is because it works (on ppl who can't see the errors in their reasoning)
and all this "compassionate" stuff is just things being fed to them, like sheep, yet ignore the more troubling things (which, if more widely discussed, would be bad news for the news media etc)

poverty rates across the board going down and ppl try to make it seem more dire than ever, talking about "donate your flight miles or donate to the XYZ freedom fund to help bail out ppl".
yet, they're hypocritical af claiming a moral superiority, but ignoring other issues. not only are some of these things just inefficient use of money but i doubt they have heard of the Tigray warhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tigray_War.. took the media a while to even widely acknowledge the internment camps in Xinjiang (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xinjiang_internment_camps) - bc they have a relationship with the CCP (e.g. Nike and others)
the irony in this is that ppl will have conversations like this one ("have you heard about the tigray war etc") in American psycho, where their knowledge of these issues are used as a sort of currency similar to how ppl use a "woke currency" / "oppressed currency"
