Misc airline users, thinking of getting the United explorer CC. Good value?

I'll be flying in a few weeks to apply for jobs and apartments, and I'm considering signing up for United's credit card. I'll probably be flying 3-4 times a year to visit family. I know ramseycels will say no to credit cards, but I haven't missed a payment in years lol.

I'm biased to United since I only fly domestically, and I only try to use nonstop flights. I don't plan to fly first class, but I'll be using economy plus for the extra legroom (closer to the front too).

They have higher tier CC's, but no way in hell am I spending 5-6k in 3 months to earn the promotion points, I'm way too frugal for that. There is a $95 annual fee, but the first checked bag is free, priority boarding and 2 free passes to their lounge is nice. If you fly with united and have their CC, how is it working for you?

And if anyone has any other CC for flying, I'm all ears.

rewards cards are generally a scam. wouldn't even bother if you aren't going to take advantage of an introductory bonus either. that's the premise of churning credit cards for their rewards

Im not a fan of the annual fee and being locked into only using united.

Do you have over 100k invested? If so look at bank of america travel card with preferred rewards bonus.
Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

Yeah I try to avoid annual fees, but the perks of the card outweigh it compared to their standard card, and I'll actually find them useful.

I forgot to mention that it has a promotional offer of up to 70k points, which is about 2-3 flights in cash value for me. I need to spend 3k in 3 month, but that's totally doable since I'm spending over 1k for a car rental, hotel and flight, plus Christmas shopping.
