Several guys in my shop got a general discharge. And they served jail time. One works for UPS and the other was in an internship with John Deere

Hmm I mean can they really look up why or how you were discharged? They could call your leadership I suppose. At least it’s not a dishonorable discharge. I’d browse on the Reddit veterans subs there’s a lot of information on there. Also I’m not sure how long you have to wait but you can file to get it upped to a general or honorable discharge after a while.

I have a friend that came back fuked up
He started to do some drugs. He got caught
Ended up with a dishonorable and he lost his VA benefits (health care to treat his mental issues)
He works a normal job now but it was a issue at some places he applied with the background check

(this guy never did drugs pre deployment and I would put money on he never would have if he was not deployed)

A kid from my high school and two of his idiot marine friends were involved in a shootout in a nightclub parking lot with some local douchebags and he ended up only getting a general discharge after fighting the charges for awhile. So you have to do something really serious to get a dishonorable I think.

4 guys that were just low performers. I know one of them was dishonorably discharged, because dude flat lies and cheats. He got qualified loadmaster and loaded the plane wrong and the Form F he did did not match the configuration. On the take off roll, pilot could not get the nose up at the expected speed and distance and luckily was able to reject and stop the plane. Not sure about other three. Then there was a guy I worked with that was a body builder (he actually competed and won), nice guy. Ordered so much gear at one time that the DEA thought he was a dealer and did a sting operation on him. He had 20 years in too and instead of getting retirement, he was dishonorably discharge....no retirement, no VA for life. Then there was a dumbass that is aircrew, but I think he was flying on the plane as PAX (passenger) at the time. Opens up a beer bottle in flight and drinks it. Pretty sure he was dishonorably discharge or possible just general.
