It's cringe to be a "fan" of sports once you are past a certain age.

When you are a kid I can understand it.
But once you get past your mid 20s, if you are still a "fan" it starts to get weird imho.
Like who wants to be a 40 year old man and be a "fan" of rich teenagers and kids in their early 20s that's just weird to me.

Don't necessarily agree, but adults who go to games and boo professional athletes are cringey as fukk. Heckling dudes who make millions, lmao.

Being a fan... fine
Being 40 years old and wearing some kids jersey and getting into arguments over it... ****ing loser

If you are not willing to risk the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary

Kinda agree. I still watch when I’m bored but don’t get emotional over it like when I was a kid. It’s pretty lame to obsess over watching adults blame kids games.
Go to the live games to get drunk and rowdy + tailgate, that’s still fun.

Former athlete and basketball player here
Played with NBA and college players until age 25
But yeah one day after 25 it hit me that it's just kind of weird cheering for other men playing with balls and getting paid millions

Meh, I enjoy watching sports on occasion just because I like watching people who are world class at something I'm interested in perform. It's really not that serious. I do agree that guys in their 30s with chit-tier jobs that are more emotionally invested in their team than the fact that they're living paycheck to paycheck and not doing anything about it are cringe as phuck.
But again, it comes down to the fact that it's just a game and not that serious, just as I say to people who do the whole, "guys who wear jerseys are cucks" thing. I have a few favorite teams I'm a fan of, and am slightly disappointed if they lose, but my joy/disappointment begins and ends within 1 hour of the match.

It’s fun to go to games. Tailgate with my dad aunts uncles and cousins. Have some bacon egg and cheese sandwiches on a Sunday morning. Relax and watch some football
Some of my best memories growing up were going to Yankees games with my dad. Would wanna have the same experience with my kids in the future

I'm gonna love my same core of teams till the day I die. Was born into a die hard family that all loves the same teams. I ain't gonna ball wash any player but it's not weird to stay a fan as you get older.

Yeah in my early 20s it hit me that it was weird to wear jersey's with someone's name on the back.
Still watch sports because i enjoy the game and use to play sports, but i just buy the Seahawk #12 "Fan" jersey now.... and i buy blank Mariners jersey's/Kraken jersey's as well...

Good point: people who still watch ball sports as an adult are dumb as a rock and have nothing going for them.
Like maybe 40 years ago when there wasn’t the internet maybe, since that’s all there was on TV.
But these days? There’s soooll much more to focus on. Get a better hobby. There’s so many better ones available these days.
Something has to be wrong with you if your bottom line is still football basketball baseball soccer.
