Should I fire this intern?
I’m a partner at a hedge fund. Felt bad for the intern, his performance has been terrible but I could tell he’s trying his best. He seems a bit depressed too, told everyone about his failed hockey career.
Anyway, I’m in a good mood and decide to invite him for a beer. As I reached out to shake his hand, he awkwardly put his hand up to do one of those “bro” handshakes.
I was gonna fire him anyway due to his social ineptitude and poor performance, but I feel like I should talk to HR and accelerate it?

Yeah honestly the performance is one thing and I MAY be able to let it slide if he had lights out social skills but the guy can't even handle a simple handshake lol
Imagine if he ever had to meet a client - I get its a family friend but too risky IMO to keep a guy like that around - put your business first and gas him ASAP
