What's your take on "sick" horror films.

I'm talking like, Serbian film or Human Centepede 2.

I just got clued in on some movie called "Megan is missing" which is about two 14 year old girls getting kidnapped, raped, abused and buried alive. I didn't watch it, Google image search was enough for me.

Like

Wtf

Who are these films made for, who actually enjoys these, am I just soft.

I just don't get it.

Most of them are just torture films with no rhyme or reason to them. So I hate a lot of them and find them very boring. With that said, there are a few that are well done like Martyrs. But overall, it's not the genre of films I watch. I'm more into supernatural horror.

Og Hostel ruined gore for me. There is a difference between your classic 80/90s slasher where a victim is stalked, chased, and killed and a victim being bound and tortured. Not a fan. At all.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

Hostel was very tame.

I loved the ending when the guy escapes and kills the dude in the bathroom. I'm like "F**k Yeah!!!!"

I thought Hostel 2 was interesting that it was a betting thing between a secret cult of rich people.

once a upon a time i didn't mind them so much but not anymore

i don't think they are good for your mind

The Collector is legit good as far as gore should go. and for psychological horror I Saw The Devil is 9/10

i wouldn't bother with films like the Serbian film, human centipede 1-3 etc.

the French extreme movies have a place.. but i wouldn't recommend this stuff srs

The teenagers are annoying and vapid.

Have this need to punch them.

It's filmed documentary/found footage.

"Torture" stuff happens at the end of the movie. It's more disturbing than actual torture.

The intent is to give a message about teenage girls being kidnapped by random people they meet online but the characters are so unlikable. The acting is also terrible.

Yeah I'm a lightweight when it comes to gore, not even gonna pretend different. I used to be a fan in my teens, but as I got older I enjoyed it less and less.

Some gore is okay. I like the old school horror movies with suits, masks, props or even puppets way better than the new CGI style.

As a horror enthusiast, I say a good horror doesn’t equate to a gratuitous gore and shocking sexual/torture/violent scenes. There can be places for short snippets of these things but ultimately like any great film a good horror movie will have an engaging plot and likeable protagonist

The scares and tension are merely adding to the overall experience of the film.

“Sick” horror movies that only rely on shock value to gather an audience are poorly done and usually a waste of time.
No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

'Torture' is a crutch for chitty movies srs

Tons of way to tell an interesting and scary story without all the gore.
