Can an employer fire you if they find out months/years later you lied on your resume?

If you got a job after submitting a resume which said you worked at companies which you did not and completely made up, can they still fire you? I feel like after you accept a position, what's done is done and your resume becomes irrelevant. So if you are performing completely satisfactory at your job for months or years and have not done anything to warrant a termination, can they still do that?

This is one of the many instances where being a white male sucks. I can't just claim racism or bigot discrimination like most people do if there a different race or gender and don't feel like they should be held accountable for their fuk up.

at-will employment

At-will means thatan employer can terminate an employee at any time for any reason, except an illegal one, or for no reason without incurring legal liability. Likewise, an employee is free to leave a job at any time for any or no reason with no adverse legal consequences

Yes they can BUT if you are doing a good job is it a good business decision?
