Roger Moore was a terrible Bond

Watched Octopuccy yesterday & my god that chit is bad. Have literally not seen one Moore Bond film that I have enjoyed.

Still annoyed I wasted 2 hours!

To be fair you are watching an older Moore at the tail end of his Bond career, with some pretty clown moments including the Tarzan yell and Bond in a literal clown costume.

I actually thought octopuccy was decent with an intricate plot, but Man With The Golden Gun through Moonraker are probably my fav Moore Bond films (and yes, these movies have their clown moments as well, such as sheriff J.W. pepper in MWTGG and the whistle, and in MR the double-taking pigeon and the entire space laser battle. As for TSWLM, Im sure there are some clown moments, I just cant think of any off the top of my head).

Yeah I just couldn't get into the zany campy schtick that Moore was doing to the end of his role

Watch Live and Let Die.

It's the best Moore Bond film. Very fun to watch.

For a good film with some historical basis, watch the Wild Geese.

He was just the goofy Bond with all the silly gadgets. He almost felt like a parody of Bond.

Moore got the job because George Lazenby didn't want to come back for the role. I think he was better than Connery.
Then they offered the job to Adam West. 100% Srs. He turned it down because he felt Bond should be from the UK.

Moore was fair. All the others after him have sucked hard and their movies sucked too. Bond movies were almost like cool Sci-fi fantasy movies but after Moore they became boring spy movies.

moore had a more dainty, goofy take on the role as compared to the others, but he still had some great movies. Moonraker always has a place in my heart- loved that movie as a kid (anything outer space was mind blowing)

in his defense it was a different time and sensibility back then. he played it the way they wanted him to play it - cheeky. i was never a fan of the movies tho - not my kind of movies. i do love that parkour chase scene tho.

As for the camp.....honestly give me Moore's camp over Craig's Bonds which are taking themselves too seriously now (I did enjoy the first 2 Craig Bonds, none after that). Moore played the Bond character very tongue-in-cheek, and those old colorful Moore movies look better than some of the more uniform and darker cinematography of the recent Craig ones imo. Bond was a fun adventure film back then, not to mention there was an absolute s### ton of stuff they could get away with that would be no-go today.

I thought Christopher Lee as Scaramanga was great in The Man With The Golden Gun. I even liked the corny fun-house scenes. I noticed something about this film after a recent re-watch....everyone seems pissed off during the whole film for some reason lol. When you watch it, pay attention to Bond, M, Q, etc...they all seem short-tempered and in bad moods.

Also Octopuccy was the one where Moore was going up against Sean Connery in Never Say Never Again, in the Battle of the Bonds. Imo Octopuccy is the better film. Couldnt get into NSNA

Yeah I didn't care for him, but he was better than Lazenby. I'm also not a fan of Craig and probably like Moore more than him.

My favorite Bond was Daniel Craig because he is jacked. Peirce Brosnan ain't convincingly beating up nobody with that dad bod. Cringe af.

Brosnan suffered from being a great Bond character inside of absolutely garbage tier movies.

I liked Brosnan as Bond, but the Brosnan Bond movies are among the worst.

Daniel Craig is my favorite Bond right now. Sean Connery will always be the OG Goat though.

Moore on his worst day beats everyone after him by a margin. Films that were fun and endlessly rewatchable. Ive barely made it through any of Craigs and havent watched any if Brosnans twice. CR would have been ok without the stupid poker scene and last twenty minutes.

My fav for each:

Connery- Goldfinger- Great prototypical Bond plot, Connery still going strong and not phoning it in yet, great villain, great henchman, mostly faithful to Fleming. Runner up: You Only Live Twice, which thankfully is not faithful to Fleming....huge fan of Flemings books, but this one would not translate well to the screen.

Moore- The Man With the Golden Gun- Superb villain Scaramanga, great soundtrack throughout, good locations (and actually filmed on location) and interesting combination of camp and seriousness. Runner up: The Spy who loved me (most people probably consider this the best, and it was absolutely a bigger-scale film, I believe the budget was twice that of TMWTGG, and it shows: huge sets and larger cast etc. But for some reason Im just more nostalgic for TMWTGG

Dalton- Licence to Kill- Dalton pulls off the serious/revenge role very well imo. Great villain.

Brosnan- The World is Not Enough- Brosnan looks his best in this film and gives his best performance (nailed the banker scene at the beginning and throughout), interesting villain/great actor in Reynard , complex character in Elektra, casino scene was done well- simple yet suspenseful. Runner Up: Die Another Day, first half was brilliant, second half was so-so.

Craig- Quantum of Solace- more in the artistic direction, great visually and good tone, somewhat realistic plot for a modern-day Bond, Craig still going great here. Runner Up: Casino Royale- has the Fleming factor.

Moore's are the only ones I watched aside from Craig. Hated the Brosnan ones as I felt it was too tryhard. Same as Craig aside from Casino Royale.

With Moore's movies it was what I always felt James Bond should've been, cheesy, funny, more relaxed but simultaneously badass. I mean ffs they had a villain called Octopussy!!! James Bond to me was just like a cheeky misc kunt slayin sloots and trolling bad guys.

The new Bond movies are fukin pretentious and boring. Like the new one doesn't even have anything to do with James Bond lol, just a run of the mill action drama.
