I've spent time in the military, in the civilian sector, in the business world and dipping my feet into the IT world, and one thing that everything has in common and that really grinds my gears is that everything is defined by, revolves around, is designed by and implemented by a bunch of bullchit. Serious. Allow me to explain.

Particularly in the military and in business, so much time and energy and work is wasted by useless people in creating useless models and plans and methodologies and theories and each of those have fuking stupid diagrams and charts associated with them, that they publish in some sort of self fellating publication, others in managerial positions eat it up, they then disseminate that to the masses via powerpoint and whoever in the masses becomes an expert at memorizing and regurgitating the bull moves on up. Rinse and repeat. All this nonsense like fuking project management theories and six sigma and Kanban, Waterfall etc. A bunch of copyrighted branded bullchit that companies pay TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars to have some fat retired NCO or cop go "teach" through some stupid powerpoint for 3 days so everyone can pretend like whoever mandated that nonsense is worth the paper their salary is printed on. Same chit with ORM models and Configuration management and Enterprise Architecture Artifacts and blah blah blah blah blah. It drives me ****ing nuts.

Even when I worked in emergency management back in the day things like the ICS system (not the one firefighters use which actually makes short term at a scene) were 90 percent of the time used in wrong situations to complicate the chit out of an event, implement bureaucracy and nonsense, and it seems just create jobs for people that otherwise wouldn't have that job because they are "Experts" at it.

Nobody utilizes the model of "get something done with common sense and within your budget as well as possible in the fastest manner". no we have to come up with a bunch of ****ing fishbone diagrams and flow charts and diagrams with so many goddamn arrows nobody even knows what direction we're going. The entire ****ing world is run by bullchit.

The older I get the more I convince myself that either Im the most retarded person on earth or the majority of people, and especially "Experts" are a bunch of fuking idiots. I started my adult life studying molecular biology as my undergrad and trying to understand how proteins interact with enzymes and matbolize at the molecular level was much more logical and easier to understand and made more sense than 98 percent of this mickey mouse business school bullchit.

What really ends up happening is it ends up being like a communist country where everyone smiles and says "yes Comrade" while chernobyl is blowing up because nobody wants to lose their job or be seen as someone who isn't a team player.

So you have the cronies up top who are living large and loving life and only got there because they are liked (lol if you think most of them got there because of their talent, not saying they aren't but it mainly comes down to them being a useful idiot or pleasant to work with) You have middle management who run around like headless chickens trying to justify their jobs and doing the dirty work the cronies don't want to do (like firing people or executing them) and then you have the plebs, the true believers who would dob in their own parents to be thrown in the gulags and those who think the while thing is a crock but goes with it because they want to survive

Most of this can be resolved in the hiring/firing process. Get people with unteachable value like work ethic and integrity and teach them a simple protocol and you have a winning formula.

Or hire anyone with a diploma and implement convoluted management practices to hide the fact that you have 10% of the employees performing 90% of the useful work. Turnover will be highest among performers that know they deserve better but you will have enough monkeys to get by until you can find new, worthy employees to bleed dry for a few more years.
