The internet and its potential
With the internet and all the information and communication it allows us, do you think we are using it to its fullest potential? One thing I noticed in all corners of the internet is that there are separate meeting groups for different people to congregate but the congregation stays on the internet, exclusively. for instance places like the misc, 4chan, reddit (plebbit) and so on. Like-minded people can congregate on the internet and not just share their common interests and hobbies, but also shoot the **** with people who seem to have somewhat similar personalities. No homo but I'm willing to bet a lot of us regulars here on the misc could easily chill with each other irl. Many places on plebbit are pretty much a circle jerk of miscellaneous ***gotry. However you don't really hear too many people making an honest attempt to meet up. Yeah plebbit does have some meetups, but considering how popular that place is overall you would expect more. Plus the meetups are mostly just photo-ops. Why is that?
And on another note, does the internet provide us with endless mind-numbing bull**** to click on, rather than provide avenues to help you learn and build your mind in some way? From my experience if you want to learn about something in particular you need to do a fair bit of digging to answer your question. It's like going to the library and having to deliberately seek out the books on psychology, philosophy, etc. All the porn, comic books, books on "mindfulness" and other dog**** new-age millenial/zoomer garbage, is always front and center. Not only constantly accessible but also pestering you to look at it instead of anything that expands the mind. All the **** you could be learning but rather almost all of us don't use it for that purpose, or as I said before, maybe it's not really conducive to that.
I don't know just some thoughts I had and those are just a couple examples. Anyone else feel like either the internet isn't being used to its fullest potential OR maybe the general populationdoesn't wantthe internet to be a place that's constructive to each of us?
