Annual Increase in rent cost, should I bother disputing ?
First off my condo was listed at 125 less than what I’ve been paying for the past year plus, and only just rented out their final unit months ago.
I was paying 1895 and they’ve sent a notice to increase 1.5% (26 dollars).
Is it worth disputing this and letting them know I’m going to look into moving elsewhere ? It’s not the fact that it’s only 26 dollars, it’s the principle.
I can afford it no problem, I just don’t agree with it.

How much sqft and bedrooms/bathrooms you get for a $1921/mo condo? What's your income? Just curious is all. Wonder what it's like to be a Canabrah.
In my area it's under $1500 to rent a 1100 sqft 2 bedroom apartment.
Anyways from what I read ITT it sounds like the owner is increasing rent within the legal limits to be able to do so. These days inflation is so bad, 1.5% is cheap, gotta thank Canada for that. My rent went up roughly $25 last time, which is closer to 2% increase for me, srs.
When you go around on Zillow do you actually see better priced housing located closer to work? If so maybe you should consider it, srs.

Just spoke with my building manager and he’s going to back me in my dispute and guide me on how I should approach it, then make sure it gets to the right person to be dealt with.

You're in a no win situation.
If you are successful in disputing it, you already lost, because it means you're overpaying right now, and have been since you've lived there.

It's the principle of being able to stand up for yourself. You could make the argument that you are a good tenant, and that you've always paid and never destroyed the place. The bigger argument is that if you did leave, they could be on the hook for a missing tenant for a month or more, which would far surpass the owners losses than if he didn't accept the increase. Then if they were adamant the increase had to take effect, then I'd make a counter of "what do I get out of it" argument. I'm sure there's numerous things that could be improved, and if I was paying more money along with the rest of the tenants, then I'd expect an upgrade or repairs to existing things.
If you just take the increase at face value, then they'll just keep raising you over and over again. As a owner, having consistent cash flow is better than risking it to make a little more.

I was the first person to live in this unit and it still looks brand new
I wash the walls and clean the floors almost daily, and haven’t damaged anything.
Never missed a payment and have lived here longer than most tenants
