Just like the matrix, yeah that would be dope.

But when I start a new project, I enjoy researching/ designing stuff, and once It's built and I've learned how to do it, It becomes less interesting and I move onto something else.

It would be like a RPG game thats new and fresh. And you play the schit out of it until you learn everything and then the magics gone, and your left chasing that high.

That would suck actually.

I don't mean like to complete a single project, I mean like to get a college degree's worth of knowledge with one download of the information going straight to your brain. Plus you wouldn't have unlimited storage, so you couldn't know everything by doing unlimited downloads. Only as much as you can remember now but with easier learning via downloading it

It'd be cool af if you could download a degree's worth of knowledge into your brain overnight while you slept or something

I agree learning new chit is fun but it's the effort/time involved that kind of sucks sometimes

Nah, I don't mean that type of knowledge, I'm talking about on actual subjects. Unless taking acid is going to help me learn physics or something lol

If we’re talking about downloading an entire degree, why stop there? Why not download knowledge to earn billions of dollars? Rule the world? Solve poverty?

If we’re being practical, books/podcasts/YouTube is probably most of what you need. IMO I’d rather get knowledge this way than with a degree even if a degree could be downloaded. Instead of going all in as with a degree, you can tailor your knowledge along the way.

Unless I wanted to be a doctor, accountant, lawyer, etc. I would never get a degree if I could do it over again.
Entire NYPD should go on strike. You'll see then how quickly the mayor changes his tone.

I meant a degree's worth of knowledge, not necessarily to get a degree out of it. I'm doing a self-learning route currently (taking online courses) so no degree's involved or unrelated classes like in college. There's just a lot to learn

I guess it's better to focus on the journey because there's endless information available these days srs

Nah, in comp sci you don't need a degree. You'll have tangible skills and can show projects you've done on your resume/in interviews if questioned

For almost every other subject though you'd probably be right

What are you trying to learn a degrees worth amount of knowledge in?

This must be for some kind of cert or test, right?

Otherwise just start doing whatever you’re learning for and then learn along the way, make the mistakes right

Computer science. I'm taking some courses I have access to just to learn how to program stuff

I'm not sure if there's certs involved with the current course I'm on but you build a lot of projects so you'll have something to show for it regardless of if there's a cert

The knowledge is there in front of me, I'm just being lazy lol. That's why I wish I could download it to my brain so I don't have to actually do anything

Yea having relevant projects is key. Especially in anything development related.

Would be difficult to come up with an accounting project, for example, though. Not sure what I would do or what I would show if I wanted to make it at a big 4.

I have a ********** cert that I got in a day and have been doing accounts payable/receivable/sales tax for years as a part of a small business but don’t think I could actually get hired anywhere to do that same type of work tbh. I could be wrong

Yeah i'm not sure what you could do in accounting without certs/diplomas as far as getting hired

Coding is just a rare field where degrees don't necessarily matter

If you write the basic cliff notes of what you are trying to rapidly Learn on the palm of your hand, Clench your fist afterwards and ram it up your ass. All information will be immediately processed.

It also might not, But do not miss this opportunity.

I've had this thought too. The closest thing I can think of for downloading information into your brain is listening to audiobooks at an accelerated speed. You can do lectures as well, check out The Great Courses. Lynda has some stuff too if you can get a free membership, maybe from your local library. Get the app Libby and see if it's compatible with your library as well.

Obviously a lot of stuff requires visual engagement, but you can still learn a surprising amount with just your ears.

I listen at 3x speed (3.5x if on Spotify), which took me years to work up to. But to put it this way, I can read the entire first book of Game of Thrones in the same amount of time as it takes someone to watch the first season of the show. I used to listen to the equivalent of 24 hours of spoken audio at work (8 hours actual listen time). It got to the point where I was running out of stuff to listen to all the time, so then I would just listen to music and it was a new album each time.

News, podcasts, lectures, interviews, comedy, trivia games, audiobooks, textbooks, reviews, fiction, nonfiction, biographies, I would load everything on a queue before I headed out and just hit play/pause as needed. I've read hundreds of books now, thousands of podcasts etc.

I also use bone conduction headphones. Even though I'm an audiophile with the amp, DAC, nice headphones, FLAC, I find that my go-to headphones are my bone conduction ones that are simply Bluetooth. The nice thing about them is you can hear the world as you're downloading information into your brain.

Btw to take things one step further, all notifications and messages that come to my phone are fed into my ears as well. There's an app for everything. Can be annoying sometimes when you're in a group chat and it's endless chatter but I don't have to look at my phone unless I wanna respond.

Edit: This can work for school as well. Honestly not to brag but when I implemented some of the methods I mentioned, I became an A+ student across the board. Repetition, repetition, repetition. Who else can say they've read a textbook cover to cover multiple times? Have your phone read it to you and you'll see each chapter takes less than 2 hours at regular pace. At 3x speed, you can review a chapter in 40 minutes. After the second or third time around, you know the material at least peripherally and can anticipate what's gonna come next. Combine it with visual learning now, and you're laughing.
I even used this to memorize entire presentations, multiple pages of information that I could recite at a whim. That's how powerful it is.

Edit 2: I have multiple apps that can play audio, each dedicated to whatever it is I wanna listen to, all set up and ready to play from my home screen with the touch of a single button. Think of it like a TV and flipping the channel. Sometimes you need a break from one thing.
