Negotiating wages

The ad posted for this first year sparky position is 19 dollars an hour.

We're seeing lots of inflation this year, so what is a good wage? 20.50? 21?

plus try to get other offers as well. If you're feeling bold you can even make up a figure which to tell an employer "this other company is willing to pay me $25/hour" or whatever, and see how they react.

from my experience a lot of companies, despite the current job market and desperation to fill positions, won't negotiate salary. Even the ones that seem desperate to fill a position won't budge. ****'s gay, srs.

yeah I got the offer they sent me like 75 pages of paperwork.

Blessed by the misc gods. Srs. From what I experienced in different fields is it's always like a 2 to 3 dollar bump after 3 or 6 months time on the job with good performance. If you're no rook, you can try asking for that off the bat when talking wage. Surprised you got that for an entry level position, usually most companies are firm for newcomers lol

All comes down to knowing how to negotiate though or in your case sweet talkin them LMAO

whatever you ask for, give them the reason behind it rather than just pull a number out of your ass. no one can fault you for asking for a competitive wage based on data. but they can fault you for pulling a number out of your ass - that's an a$$hole move and offensive. i'd look for highest $$$ data and show them that.

"based on the research i've done, the going rate for a first year electrician is $2X/hour. i'd like to be there."
