L-theanine, what are your experiences?
I saw someone mention L-theanine in another thread. I tried it years ago but don't remember it having any effect.
The stuff I tried was super cheap, and now I'm tempted to try the Suntheanine stuff after reading some more about it.

Tried it multiple times, never noticed anything different with it.

What would you be taking it for? I know some of the benefits are sleep related. At least that's what they say. It also impacts how your body metabolizes caffeine and alcohol. With caffeine, it gives you the boost without the jitters. If you take it with alcohol it helps your body process it without absorbing the alcohol. I've tried it that way before and it kind of makes your experience not so great, unless you take it after you stop right before bed. In that case it can help minimize your hangover.

I've reduced my caffeine intake, but was wondering if it might help take the edge off even more while still allowing for the wakefulness/alertness.

L-theanine targets the neurotransmitters that control stress and attention.
it can also help reduce sleep problems caused by Caffeine, I have only seen studies done on rats;https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22285321/
It's worth having in your pre workout assuming you mix your own.

Huberman's podcast is very good. He has mentioned l-theanine for both stress reduction and for sleep.

I tried it and liked the calming effects
it felt like a cool breeze going thru my brain.
But for me that makes me uneasy there are no free rides with drugs
and didn't want to create some dependency or wreck my brain chemistry just messing around
