I am not an investor, I have a question for those who would know about investing....

So, a friend shared a link from the CISO of Game Stop saying he has a lot of IT/Cyber jobs available......


There is 155 IT based jobs.......how the fuk does a company that ONLY has high valuation based on the stocks and wallstreet bets afford hiring all these people?
Are they only hiring all these people because the valuation is super high?

Doesn't make sense to me.....anyone able to explain?

They have money on paper, they can pay salaries on paper. As long as the ROI is a net positive in the long term, its a good move.

The market capitalization of a company is a non-tangible thing, and may have little correlation to the actual value and/or current revenue of the company.

That makes sense. Just insane a company that was about to go under can now have such a big workforce in regards of IT......like why do they need so many dev's? They have a streaming service?
