Had a dream WITHIN a dream last night (strong wtf)

Had a sad kind of dream last night, but then at the worst part, I realized that it was a dream, but not like a dream in real life, I realized it was a dream IN THE DREAM, and then like the situation in the dream changed, and I didn't realize I was actually dreaming in real life even though that does happen to me too, mostly when I have dreams about committing crimes and thinking I can do whatever I want because it's a dream, but then I do it and I'm like "wait if this isn't a dream I'm in big trouble", wtf even is this?

I had one once, it was really stressful. I visited my parents place one weekend and in the middle of the night, woke up and got bored and sat outside under the patio and fell asleep on the chair as I was still very tired. Then I was experiencing a dream, don't remember what it was, but it was really random as usual. I then woke up from that dream and opened my eyes. I saw a figure standing about 8 ft away diagonal to the left of me. I realized it was my dad, who had come downstairs to have a smoke in the middle of the night. I was really embarrassed because he caught me being a weirdo sleeping outside on a chair at 4 AM. So I kept my eyes closed like an ostrich not wanting to face the embarrassment, but he didn't say anything. Then I woke up, the air was fresh, nobody was there, I was definitely awake this time. I walked back into the house, into my room, and into my bed and slept again. I realized that my premature "wake up" seeing my dad potentially catching me doing something weird was a dream. It never happened. Everything looked the same, except the feeling of reality was different. There was no temperature or breeze or feeling of breathing in the simulated backyard with my dad, but the visuals were all there so I really thought I had woken up. But in reality, I only woke up from the 2nd dream I was having.

So basically, I in reality fell asleep in the backyard at 4 AM, dreamed I was sleeping in the backyard and my dad was smoking there, and dreamed in that dream a random average dream, for the logical framework of a nested scenario. But in reality, maybe it was all part of the same dream of a linear scenario, and chronologically the events in my dream were: 1. average dream 2. waking up and seeing my dad. So basically rather than the conclusion that I dreamed of sleeping in the backyard and then dreaming from that dream, probably I just dreamed that I woke up from a dream from which the confusing conclusion would be that I had nested dreams when in reality it was all the same dream and just part of it. I just never have had dreams in which I dreamed of waking up into a false wakefulness.
