Yeah, I smoke pot and then i'll shed a tear or two during a random movie/tv scene. Usually well rated stuff with solid actors, so that just reinforces that it's a legitimate attempt at conveying those feelings through acting

A few months ago watching this scene from HBO’s Rome.

Wasn’t outright crying but I got severely choked up and my eyes got wet.

TLDR: Titus Pullo was sent to die in the gladiator arena. His buddy Lucious Vorenus was also a part of Caesar’s battle-hardened and favorite legion the 13th. He was ordered by Caesar not to intervene but he did anyway because of his loyalty to his friend and the 13th Legion. Pullo somehow killed like 8 gladiators on his own after one of them mocked the 13th legion which put him in a fit of rage.
